Kohi-Ya is a cafe that found home at the Hillview Community Club. It isn’t far from the MRT station though it is a uphill walk.
This cafe is by the folks who operates the Kyu Coffee Bar at Prudential Tower previously. Interior was modern Zen. We love the sleek and no-frill design.
Kohi-ya offers a very small menu with only 7 dishes and handful of coffee and tea and other drinks.
First was the Classic Avocado Toast ($10). Homogenous thickness of avocado slices sat on a thin slice of Sourdough. Drizzle with honey, sounded strange and topped with macadamia nuts tasted pretty awesome.
Squid Ink Orzo Pasta ($18) was an item which we enjoyed very much. We were worried about the usual seafood pungent flavour that is often associated with squid Ink. Fortunately, our concern was invalid. The smooth, buttery feel of Orzo Pasta absorbed seafood essence hence was flavourful.
Truffle Fries ($12) was with good scent of truth both for the nose and palate. And I like it chunky so that I could savour the potato and the light crispy outer factor.
Coffee was fabulous. Low acidity, full bodies with nuttiness flavour note.
In addition, we love the cup they Kohi-ya used for their coffee.
NAHMJ Verdict
Kohi-ya is a great cafe for brunch especially if you are staying around the area.
