Along Bukit Timah Road, there are quite some cafe but as I hardly go to this part of Singapore as such I have not covered much of the cafe here. The only one perhaps was Atlas Coffeehouse. Thanks to a friend who was keen to cafe hop around Bukit Timah, hence we visited The Missing Pan.
The Missing Pan occupied two levels. Interestingly, there is a lift instead of stairs to the second floor. The ground floor looks raw whereas second level looks much more promising.
My friend who is a healthy freak turned to the Confit Duck and Roasted Brown Rice ($17.50) under Soup & Green. So I would like to think that this dish is an healthier option. The roasted brown rice has an interesting texture. It isn’t soft like the usual rice, instead there is a lightly crunch. Overall, it was tasty since there is a cream sauce added to the dish.
We skipped the All Day Bread & Egg section though it is a popular choice, in particular the French Toast ($15). I dived into the Sandwiches & Burger option and chose the Blue Crab Burger ($25). Crispy softshell crab sandwiched between a charcoal bun together with some greens and sweet potato fries by the side. Nothing out of the ordinary but certainly I would describe it as tasty.
I am not an Avocado fan, however I am a Gula Melaka lover. Therefore, I couldn’t resist the charm of the Avocado and Gula Melaka Milkshake ($11). No regret ordering this glass of rich, creamy with goodness of gula melaka flavour dominated the milkshake.
My friend opted for the Chai Tea ($5). She loves it as she find the spice flavour was sufficient. This is certainly not my cup of tea.
Matcha Azuki Cake ($6.50) was the dessert we ordered for sharing. If you have tried the Matcha Chiffon from Dulcet & Studio, you might find this extremely disappointing. Nothing comes close to the latter.
NAHMJ Verdict
We like the Mains whipped out of the kitchen of The Missing Pan but we couldn’t say the same for the only cake we tried.
