I spotted Seribu Rasa at Gandaria City when I was browsing the webpage of Gandaria City. The Fish Head Curry photo attracted me but I soon forgot about it till we strolled at Gandaria City again to look for a place for dinner. This time it was the decoration and ambience of the restaurant that lure me into dinning at this elegant restaurant without realising it was Seribu Rasa.
As we entered and settled comfortably at the table, we browse through the thick booklet of menu. Then my colleague realised that the restaurant was Seribu Rasa, the fave restaurant of many in the office.
My sense on the design of the restaurant is that it is modern with some resort and Indonesian element. Maybe due to the arm chair in the restaurant and some Indo ornaments.
There is no lack of varieties; ranging from appetizers, Seafood, Poultry and Meat, curry, vegetables, noodle & rice, Dessert and beverages. I didn’t exactly count the number of dishes offered but easily more than 50 selections. All seems equally good making me wanting to try as much food as I can. Since my colleague have been to the restaurant, I left the ordering in her good hands.
We started off the meal with Beef Satay Kota Gede (Rp 65,000). The marinate was rich a pity I feel that it did not totally get absorbed right into the centre of the meat. I was glad that Seribu Rasa At Gandaria City provided a sauce that taste like the marinate to dip the stick. Both other diners at the table felt the meat was tender but I have a hard time chewing it.
Jumbo Prawn Golden Egg Yolk (IDR 95k per pc) requires a minimum order of 2 pieces. The prawn was fresh with a salted egg yolk of good sweet and salty balance. But I find the sauce a little too starchy instead of creamy.
Ayam Goreng Lengkuas (Rp 97,000) has a thick crispy skin and I thought it was extremely well marinated. The chicken meat survived succulent despite it was deep fried. Though it was a shame that the wings were dry. The thinly shred deep fried ginger enhances the flavour. And don’t forget to dip the chicken meat into the chilli sauce too.
We ordered a spicy, sweet and sour deep fried fish, the Jimbaran Fried Fish (Market Price). It was the tiger grouper. I felt it was fresh with thick fleshy meat. As I like sweet, sourish, spicy combination, I find it appetising and enjoyable. Though some may find it a little too spicy.
A second spicy dish we ordered was the Kangkung Balachan Hotplate (Rp 57,000). Lightly spicy with the Kangkung spice up the meal. Though I find that there is room for improvement for balachan.
Dried Scallop String Bean (IDR 67k) was crunchy and tasty.
The staple dish that we order was the Pineapple Fried Rice Phuket (Rp 75,000). In it not only pineapple dice and seafood, there are chinese sausages. With all the ingredients combined, the pineapple fried rice was tasty. Personally, I felt this is one of the best I have tried so far.
We also went for the Seafood Fried Rice Sunda Kelapa (IDR 72k). Perfect balance of flavours.
Two desserts were ordered for sharing among 3 diners. First we have the Es Campur Seribu Rasa (Rp 46,000) which is a mix of avocado, jackfruit pineapple, coconut and red pearl topped with shaved ice and mango syrup. This is a fruity, cold and light sweet dessert.
Next was the the Es Dawet Ndoro Putri (Rp 49,000) consisting of red bean, green jelly, shaved ice and premium homemade durian jam. Comparatively, this is a sweeter dessert. It would be great if they could increase the amount of the durian jam.
An array of beverages were available at Seribu Rasa At Gandaria City too. You will find alcoholic drinks, fresh juice, Gourmet Soda, Fruit Ice Blended and soft drinks. Such as Es Kelapa Kopyor that is ice blended coconut (Rp 44,000), Innocent Pina Colada (Rp 47,000) and Thai Ice Tea (Rp 34,000).
Limited hot drinks with only tea and coffee for selection. A good option is the Traditional Java Tea (IDR 23k). The flavour note is similiar to Jasmine Tea.
NAHMJ Verdict
Seribu Rasa At Gandaria City serves delish food in an elegant environment. It is good for celebration or even business meal. And of course whenever one would like to indulged in delish quality food with friends and family.
