Whenever I am at Macau, Portuguese Cuisine is a must. This round, I chose Fernando Restaurant located at Hac Sa. Though it is rather far, at the other corner of Macau where you are away from all actions. Away from the touristy and away from the gaming scene. But you have a pleasant, peaceful beach with black sand as the feature. The other highlight at Ha Sac, of course is Fernando Restaurant.
I tried making a reservation at Fernando but they imposed a minimum spending of 200 MOP per person. As a result, I cancelled my reservation and walk-in instead. We were arrived at the restaurant before 6.30pm and a waiting list was pending.
There isn’t as wide a range on its menu, compared to some other Portuguese Restaurant at Macau, like Antonio. Nonetheless, sufficient.
The dishes has a home-cooked feel. We tried one of the seafood dishes, the prawn. The other highly flavoured was the Clam.
At every Portuguese Restaurant, Bacalhau is a must. The ones made by Fernando was richer in potato than the codfish. And it has a relative scent of parsley.
The must order dish is the Suckling Pig. It was accompanied with fried fresh potato and Salad. All thumb-up for this wonderful dish. The skin was ultra crispy and yet not hard. The meat was succulent and tender.
And most importantly, enough seasoning was added to marinate the meat. It was perfect.
Though, there were some dishes that did not meet our expectation, overall, it was enjoyable. Over at Fernando Restaurant, the suckling pig is a must. Don’t ever forget to order this when you are there. The rest of the dishes, we thought it really depend on your preference.
