The Pantler is suited in the Telok Ayer conservation area, nestled in one of the lovely preserved shophouses, has a contrast design from its area. It has a contemporary design, simple, sleek and modern-looking.
Over here, you won’t find cushy seats nor free WiFi, but you find an array of mouth-watering pastries and cakes.
Just minutes after it opened for the day, the counters were already fully filled with its baked goods. The gluttony part of me acted when I see all the lovely food on display.
I couldn’t restrain my greed and so I ordered two pastries; an Almond Croissant and a Choux Creme. The Almond Croissant has a good almond flavour, slight sweetish and it was very flaky and crispy. Pantler’s croissant was not the very buttery kind, lightly flavoured. The Choux Creme has a crispy choux pastry and it was filled with rich and smooth vanilla custard.
Pantler serves not only the usual pastries such as plain croissant, au pain chocolat and cakes, they have several tarts choices, Pâte de fruits (Fruits Jelly Sweets), roll cakes and macaroons.
On the same day, after work, I went down to take away to share with my mom and bro.
The tart base was dense and sweetish but I find the apricot a little too sour. The Pantler Cheesecake was excellent. The cheesecake was smooth and rich but not overly rich. They actually missed out my Mango Shortcake, will try that at my next visit.
On the whole, Pantler serves pretty delish pastries.
