Bonheur Patisserie is set up as a counter within the Ground of Pasar Bella Market at the Grandstand, Bukit Timah. It was previously located at Duxton Road. I have never found the opportunity to patron them when they were so near me. Until they shifted to such a inconvenient location. But thanks to the free shuttle provided by The Grandstand with various pick up points.
After their move, Bonheur Patisserie offers purely macarons with as much as 25 flavours. I noted some interesting flavours that are Asian and even Fusion flavours. The highlight at Bonheur Patisserie are the cute character macarons. These cute macarons have been making waves on instagram as they proved to be absolutely instagram stunning.
When purchased a box of 10 macarons, a 10% discount is applied.
Cute Characters Macaron
I spotted Brown, Sally and Cony from the Line, Kitty, Keroppi and a few more. The characters macaron are more expensive. Each at $4.50, about $1 – $1.50 more than the one without characters.
Yuzu Macaron
Cony has it in Yuzu butter cream. It was a pity that the Yuzu aroma was far too light. Mainly sweet scent from sugar instead.
Strawberry Macaron
Though it has a sweet strawberry scent but very much like artificial flavouring. It doesn’t taste like the natural strawberry at all.
Melon Macaron
Like the strawberry, very much artificial flavouring scent.
Cookies and Cream Macaron
Fitting to its name, a true cookies and cream flavour in Cookies Monster character.
Normal Macarons
Sakura Macaron
Sakura flavour, the lightest among the 10 with Sakura aroma far too light till I could hardly appreciate the flavour, except for some sweet tasting butter cream.
Rose Macaron
A lightly rose scented though light, at least I could savour the fragrance. One of better flavour among the 10 macarons chosen.
Passionfruit Macaron
Somehow, I missed out taking an individual photo of the Passionfruit Macaron. It was coloured in a similar blue as the Cookies Monster Macaron. This was the first of the 2 ganache filling. A good balance of sweet and sour and good scent of passionfruit emitted.
Matcha Macaron
Another butter cream flavoured in Matcha. Matcha aroma witha sweet finishing.
Sea Salt Gula Melaka Macaron
The Sea Salt Gula Melaka Macaron is also in butter cream. Bites of sea salt and gula melaka. These tiny gula melaka bites definitely scored point with me.
Thai Ice Tea Macaron
The second ganache filling was the Thai Ice Tea Macaron. It has a considerable strong Thai Ice Tea scent due mainly to the grated tea leaves. These tea leaves bites though provide better tatsing Thai Ice Tea flavour, it resulted in some unpleasant sensation in the mouth.
Verdict
Bonheur Patisserie has mainly butter cream filling in its macaron which I don’t prefer. I like the ganache filling better. The macarons are on the sweeter end. Each time I was only able to enjoy 2 as it was far too sweet to have more. The macaron biscuit texture were inconsistent with some more chewy than the other and with some softer than the rest and it is definitely sweet as well.
In short, if you like it sweet, Bonheur Patisserie macarons are for you. And of course, most might be allured to its cute character macarons. I certainly am tempted to them.
NAHMJ Favourite
It has to be the Passionfruit and perhaps Sea Salt Gula Melaka too.
