Conte De Cookies 曲奇童話 has two outlets. One at Wanchai, the other at Tsim Sha Tsui. We visited its Wanchai outlet. The bakery is run by three Chefs formerly from 5-stars hotel such as The Hotel Peninsular.
The main products that are selling in the Conte De Cookies are Cookies with various flavours and Palimers.
Cookies
The Cookies flavours can be classified into Green Tea, Fruits, Chocolate and Butter flavours. These flavours were packed into assorted Tin boxes. There are 4 different assortment packs for the biscuits
1. The Joyful Fruits 喜樂果子 HK$188

We felt that the biscuits has a very fine and smooth texture and are lightly flavoured. The flavour isn’t overwhelming or strong, but enough to savour it. All in all, the cookies has a good balance among all its elements, crispy, crumble, flavours, smoothness and so on.
3. Golden Time 黃金時光 HK$168

4. 華麗派對 Le Parti Du Splendid HK$188

Interestingly, in each box, it has a very cute horse-shaped Butter Biscuit. I hope they will sell an entire box filled with this ‘horse’.
Palimers
For the palimers, there are original, Lemon & Almond Stick, Mixed Grains and Almond. If you like trying them all, you can go for the Butterfly Dance Tin Box.
1. Palmier 蝴蝶酥 HK$148
In the Palmier, it consists of the original flavours only. Pretty bothering, isn’t it.
2. The Butterfly Dance 蝶舞花間 HK$168
We got a box of the assortment box. It has a very nice name, The Butterfly Dance.
I tried all the flavours. It’s a pity that I didn’t really taste the tangy lemon of the Lemon and Almond sticky. The most distinct flavour is the Mixed Grains Palimers. I prefer the Original ones. In general, the palimers has a good buttery aroma. But some may prefer it stronger. What I really like about the Palimers is that, I don’t find it greasy.
Final Verdicts
Lastly, as compared to Jenny’s Bakery, we find that each has its strength. My brother likes the strong flavours, especially the coffee aroma, from the Jenny Bakery biscuits. He is willing to compromise for its rough texture. My mom and sister took neutral position. For me, I am one who like a good balance so personally, I would vote for Conte De Cookies. Final conclusion, I suppose food is subjective to individual preference.
