TurboJET Premier Grand Class Ferry To Macau was my choice of getting to Macau from Hong Kong for my April 2015 trip with Mom.
There are 2 main ferry companies, Cotai and TurboJET, offering ferry services between Macau and Hong Kong. Cotai disembarked mainly at Coloane while TurboJET at Macau Peninsula. I prefer getting to Macau Peninsula as our hotel, Hotel Sintra, is there. It will be a more convenient choice for us.
Both the companies offer a variety of different classes of cabins for selection. Why did I choose TurboJET Premier Grand Class Ferry over the rest? I wanted to pamper my Mom a little so the TurboJET Premier is the choice.
Tickets Purchase and Collection
Purchasing the ferry tickets is via 3 channels. Namely Online Booking, Mobile Apps and at Ticket Office.
Online Booking
Online Booking can be made via the link here. Unfortunately, there is a surcharge of HKD 10 per online booked tickets. Collection can be made via the self-service kiosk or ticket office. You must remember to collect the return tickets too.
Mobile Apps
The TurboJET apps are on both iPhone and Android version. Likewise, a surcharge of HKD 10 is applied. Collection is made via the self-service kiosk or ticket office. You must remember to collect the return tickets too.
Ticket Office
Alternatively, if you are not tech savvy or a manner of preference, you could visit the ticketing office for the purchase of tickets.
For Group Booking of more than 6 persons, email [email protected] or fax the booking via international toll free number 00800 1628 1628 available to China, Japan, Malaysis, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
Lounge
Passengers on TurboJET Premier Grand Class could use the lounge. But we didn’t as it wasn’t convience. The lounge was at ground floor while we collect our ticket at the office that is on 3rd floor.
Though the lounge over at Macau Ferry terminal was at the same level of departure, we were only 30 minutes from the departure time. Therefore it was wiser that we start moving to the gate.
Waiting Lounge
The Premier Class waiting lounge is a simple room with comfy sofa. Nothing fanciful. The disadvantage at the Hong Kong Ferry Terminal was the waiting lounge is a good walking distance from the gate. The one at Macau was better positioned, it was around the gate.
Cabins and Seats
The cabin of TurboJET Premier Grand Class was in Scandinavian Designer. Comfortable reclinable leather seats with large leg space were offered.
Free Wifi was available for the passengers on the TurboJET Premier Grand Class. There were good selection of magazines and newspaper available too.
Both our journey to and from Macau were smooth sailing and very comfortable, even though the sea condition was rough on the day to Macau.
Meals On Board
Meals were served on board. The food served were more than decent. It is advisable to book your meal online as there a wider selection will be available. The choices on board were limited. There was a wide variety of beverages on board to choose from too.
Breakfast
The breakfast served were standard fare. My Mom has Bacon …
I have Pork Patty.
The pork patty was slighty too salty, otherwise it was fine.
Dinner
We enjoyed the dinner. I have scallops ….
while my Mom has prawns.
The best part of the dinner was the Chocolate Mousse. It was very chocolaty.
Free Transfer
Staff were stationed outside the ferry before we disembark and we were give clear instruction to the meeting pointing. The process was swift. It is a pity that it is only a single transfer and return wasn’t available.
Other Services
Other services included for the passengers of TurboJET Premier Grand Class include
- Free check-in for one golf bag & one baggage up to 20 kg
- Enjoy privileged services at the TurboJET Premier Lounge
- Priority disembarkation
- Exclusive ticketing counters
The best part is, should you missed the time of your booked sailing, you could board other. This really help travellers to reduce our stress level.
Service
The crew were friendly, though I wouldn’t use warm to describe. I was rather disappointed that no one helped us with our hand carried luggage.
Conclusion
With comfortable seats, smooth journey, delish hot food and beverages served, free wifi to enjoy; no doubt, I will choose the TurboJET Premier Grand Class on my next trip to Macau.
