Into its several month of operation, there came Queen’s Cats Revamped Menu. I felt enthralled to find out what the revamped menu looks like; if there is improvement to the food and so on.

Again, I went to explore the Queen’s Cats Revamped Menu with my Mom since we went together the first time. We surprised to find some pleasant ones.

Queen's Cats Revamped Menu, Holland Village, Singapore - Front Section of the cafe

Queen's Cats Revamped Menu, Holland Village, Singapore - Dinning Area

Queen’s Cats is started by a husband and wife. The husband is a chef. They started this cafe in hopes that it will be a platform to spread their love for food.

We also notice some changes to the space. There are some painting hung on the wall to beautify the cafe. Somehow, I feel that the painting didn’t match the interior style of the cafe.

Queen’s Cats Revamped Menu

Since we have a high tea set the last time, for comparison purpose we ordered the Royal High Tea Set this round too. The 3 Tiers Royal High Tea Set is at $49.90. Great for sharing among 2 to 3 guests.

Queen's Cats Revamped Menu, Holland Village, Singapore - 3 Tiers Royal High Tea Set ($49.90)

This round we decided to pair the set with Queen Anne Tea by Fortnum & Mason ($12.90 for ala carte order). This blend was created in 1907, their bicentenary year. The blend comprises of Assam and Ceylon teas produces a strong and yet smooth tea.

Queen's Cats Revamped Menu, Holland Village, Singapore - Queen Anne Tea by Fortnum & Mason ($12.90)

Like their original high tea set, this improved version consists of three tiers of sandwiches, cakes and pastries. The addition is the Mushroom Cappuccino which came as a total surprise.

Queen's Cats Revamped Menu, Holland Village, Singapore - Savoury Pastries at Top Tier

Queen's Cats Revamped Menu, Holland Village, Singapore - Clotted Cream and Jam

The top tier consists of mainly savoury pastries of scones, quiches and Mini Chicken Pesto. I was glad that the scones were accompanied with jam and clotted cream, but there is room for improvement for the scones. We like the Mini Chicken Pesto best as we have not seen this in other cafe, as such it was something unique that attracted our attention. Savoury with hint of sweetness in the waffle as such there was a nice balance. Pesto was savoured and paired off well with the tiny diced pepper. Lastly, the quiches, we are neutral to it.

Queen's Cats Revamped Menu, Holland Village, Singapore - Middle Tier, Sweet Pastries and Cakes

On the plate of sweets, there are Red Velvet Cake, Earl Grey Cake and Macarons (Lemon, Vanilla and Chocolate). Among the 3 macaron flavours, we must give the Vanilla Macaron a mentioned. It was an excellent one with striking vanilla sense, while the lemon macaron was lacking of the zest. Lastly, the chocolate it was as expected. The earl grey scent was totally missing in the Earl Grey Cake. It was the most disappointing item after the Lemon Macaron.

Queen's Cats Revamped Menu, Holland Village, Singapore - Bottom Tier, Sandwiches

Queen's Cats Revamped Menu, Holland Village, Singapore - Fillings of the sandwiches

There were 3 types of sandwiches available; Smoked Salmon, Egg and Tuna. Our favourite was the Egg Sandwich. We thought the little trick of adding the herb (the green stuff) in the egg was wise as it enhances the flavour.

Queen's Cats Revamped Menu, Holland Village, Singapore - Mushroom Cappuccino

Our top favourite in the high tea set is the Mushroom Cappuccino. This is absolutely our top favuorite because the soup was silky and smooth among the mushroom bites. Furthermore, it was a flavourful one with just the right amount of truffle oil enough for the tastebud and tongue.

Queen's Cats Revamped Menu, Holland Village, Singapore - Royal Tea Set

NAHMJ Verdict

We did enjoy the revamped High Tea Set. We thought the variety is good and is an improvement to the one Queen’s Cats had started with, though we thought there are still room for improvement for some of their items.

Ollella And The Pourover Bar are at Somme Residence. Most might not have realised that it is a stone throw from City Square and the Farrer Park MRT station. It isn’t as inconvenient a location that most might have imagined.

Ollella specialises in Choux pastry and have collaborated with Raphael and Karen for coffee. As such you will notice that there is The Pourover Bar occupying a corner of the shop.

Ollella And The Pourover Bar At Somme Residence, Farrer Park, Singapore - Dinning Area

Ollella And The Pourover Bar At Somme Residence, Farrer Park, Singapore - Overview of Ollella Counter

When I entered Ollella, my attention was turned to the dinning area on my right. It has bar tables and chairs. But what caught my attention was the greens that are hung on the barrier and the flowers on the table. It is much like a garden.

At Ollella

At the moment, Ollella is offerring 8 chouquette flavours in 2 sizes; Regular (5 cm diameter) and Mini (3 cm diameter). One will find the Vanilla ($4), Dark Chocolate ($4.50), Lemon Meringue ($4), Raspberry ($5), Apple Cinammon ($4), Tiramisu ($5), Matcha Azuki ($4.50) and Rose Moscato Cheesecake.

The Matcha Azuki has red bean within the choux pastry and a Matcha cream on top. Lightly green tea flavour coupled with generous red bean.

Ollella And The Pourover Bar At Somme Residence, Farrer Park, Singapore - Matcha Azuki Chouquette ($4.50)

Ollella And The Pourover Bar At Somme Residence, Farrer Park, Singapore - Lemon Meringue Chouquette ($4)

The Lemon Meringue has a lemon curd within the choux pastry and a meringue on top of the choux resulting in a sourish and sweet pastry. The lemon curd was lightly sour. I wouldn’t mind it to be more sourish. In short, it is a typical Lemon Meringue flavour.

Ollella And The Pourover Bar At Somme Residence, Farrer Park, Singapore - from left: Rose Moscato Cheesecake, Lemon Meringue and Tiramisu Chouquette

Rose Moscato Cheesecake was extremely light, I could savour much distinct characteristics. Lastly for the Tiramisu, the coffee flavour overwhelms.

If diners would like to try all eight flavours at one go, a good option is the Complete Choux Platter ($21).

Pourover Bar At Somme Residence, Farrer Park, Singapore - Chouquette

For those who prefer to savour the plain choux pastry could go for the Chouquette. That’s not all, at Ollella, both the Kueh Lapis and Choux Tart are available too. Ollella offers some tea blend to accompany their pastries. If diner prefer coffee, Ollella has The Pourover Bar to serve some V60 filter coffee and the Espresso based coffee. The coffee order could be done at the same time at Ollella.

The Pourover Bar

Karen and Raphael specialise in the Pourover coffee. The pair are very friendly and shares with customers a lot on coffee too.

At the beginning, they offered beans roasted from Ninety Plus Coffee. A roastery hailed from Melbourne. There are beans from Tanazia, Ethiopia and Panama Gesha.

Pourover Bar At Somme Residence, Farrer Park, Singapore - V60 pourover

Pourover Bar At Somme Residence, Farrer Park, Singapore - Ethopia Harachi N2

The coffee offered by The Pourover Bar is steep and it is going to be hard to swallow by most coffee drinkers, unless you are coffee connoisseur. They believe in only providing the best to consumers. So expect a cup of pourover at $11 and above. The most expensive currently offered by The Pourover Bar is a Panama Gesha at $45.

Ollella And The Pourover Bar At Somme Residence, Farrer Park, Singapore - Cold Drip ($9)

The Pourover Bar also offered Cold Drip and Cold Brew ($9). Both doesn’t come cheap too.

Ollella And The Pourover Bar At Somme Residence, Farrer Park, Singapore - Hot Chocolate ($5.50)

And they have recently introduced the Hot Chocolate ($5.50) using Valrnhola Chocolate.

NAHMJ Verdict

Ollella And The Pourover Bar as a pair, offer fabulous pastries and high quality coffee. Such is a great collaboration for the SME in Singapore. Providing a cup of $45 cuppa is certainly hard swallow by most. I would certainly propose that the Pourover Bar to provide a more wallet friendly coffee.

Edith Patisserie is an online bakery with a physical presence at Cavan Road, around Jalan Besar. In short, it isn’t a home based bakery but it has a home style instead. I was pretty keen to try their cake and was hoping that they will go into some retail one day and sell bakes off the shelves. A pity this wasn’t their business model.  Somehow, I found that chance as I won one of their $10 voucher giveaway in their February 2016 Facebook contest.

This humble looking bakery was started by two bakers, Shaun and Ethel, who met during their pastry diploma course in culinary school. And they named it Edith in memory of Ethel’s mother.

Edith Patisserie - Online Order

As my brother’s girlfriend’s birthday was approaching so I decided to use the voucher to order a birthday cake for her celebration with our family. I went to their online order page and selected 3 choices for my brother to decide the cake; Lemon Cake, Rose Lychee and Pandan Coconut Gula Melaka Cake. I was hoping that he would select the last option. I have a soft spot for Gula Melaka.

Edith Patisserie offered almost 50 different flavours of cakes, including a handful of cheesecakes. They baked cupcake and customised cakes for all occasions. Edith Patisseries mentioned on their webpage that their bakes has no preservatives and artificial ingredients.

Edith Patisserie - Edith Patisserie unit at 11 Cavan Road

The online order was pretty straightforward and easy to use. I didn’t have any issue with it. The page was mobile friendly too. In fact, I order via mobile. There are option customise message on the cake, a short message on the box, request for candles and finally, self-collection or deliver.

Edith Patisserie - Message on the door

I opt for self-collection. I didn’t have any difficulty finding the place. I could easily spot the unit since there is a green signage with Edith on it. Once at the door, a message was hung at the door to request customer to press the bell.

Shortly, a lady came out to serve me. I provided the name who ordered it and then got my cake. I was surprised that she did not let me check to ensure the cake condition before leaving.

Edith Patisserie - Lychee Rose Cake, 6" ($45)

Edith Patisserie - 6" Lychee Rose Cake, top view

My order was the 6″ Lychee Rose Cake ($45). I must say the cake looks tiny, though it was heavy. Maybe as heavy as 1 kg. My hand was aching the next day. Lol!

Edith Patisserie - 6" Lychee Rose Cake, cream swirl

Edith Patisserie - 6" Lychee Rose Cake, rose petal

When I opened the box, both the lychee and rose aroma were refreshing and at the same time enticing. I wanted to start digging in.

The cake has a sweet pastel pink. On the whole, it looks simple yet elegant.

Edith Patisserie - Inside the Cake

The cake is a three layer vanilla oil cake with lychee bits sandwiched with buttercream in between the layer. The cake layer was surprising smooth and soft. I requested for as little as possible of buttercream layers. But personally, I still find it a little too sweet for my palate. I would request for less sweet should I order the next time.

NAHMJ Verdict

We did enjoy the cake but I am not too sure if I would order again from Edith Patisserie as we find it a little over priced.

Times flies, Goodwood Park Hotel Durian Fiesta 2016 is back with some exciting creation that really attracted my attention. As I have a penchant for some of the ingredients used to create these lovely durian desserts. This year the Durian Fiesta 2016 is from 4 March to 17 July 2016.

Each year, the Durian Fiesta is kick start with the Durian Combo. It is a good way for consumers like myself to sample most of the dessert cum pastries offered for the Durian Fiesta. Of course, there are a few others found in the Ala Carte Menu and some exclusively for dine-in only.

Goodwood Park Hotel Durian Fiesta 2016 - Durian Black Sea Salt Caramel Cake ($13 per slice)

In 2016, the Durian Combo was priced at $38.80. And it comprised of a slice of Durian Black Sea Salt Caramel Cake, Durian Kueh Lapis, Durian Crunchy Chocolate-Hazelnut Tartlet, newly created for the Goodwood Park Hotel Durian Fiesta 2016. And as in all years, a slice of the ever popular D24 Durian Mousse Cake and 2 pieces of Durian Puff is also found in the combo.

I was extremely thrilled to try out the Durian Black Sea Salt Caramel Cake which is also found at the ala carte menu for $13 per slice. I like all things sweet with a balance of savoury as such I thought this could be a hit with me. My verdict after trying is I do like the savoury and sweet combination but a pity the caramel was a little too strong for the durian. As such, the caramel was slightly overwhelming and masked the durian flavour.

Goodwood Park Hotel Durian Fiesta 2016 - Durian Kueh Lapis ($12 per slice)

Next on the list was the Durian Kueh Lapis ($12 per slice on the ala carte menu). Kueh Lapis is another favourite item of mine. Somehow, I find that the taste of the Kueh Lapis is a little too independent of the Durian. What I mean is, I tasted the kueh lapis on its on and durian on its own. Peharps it was because the Kueh Lapis was only laced around the durian mousse and not within the layer. Or maybe they just didn’t complement well.

Goodwood Park Hotel Durian Fiesta 2016 - Durian Crunchy Chocolate-Hazelnut Tartlet (6 pcs $43)

Goodwood Park Hotel Durian Fiesta 2016 - Durian Crunchy Chocolate-Hazelnut Tartlet, inside look

Lastly was the Durian Crunchy Chocolate-Hazelnut Tartlet (6 pcs $43 on its ala carte menu). I like the crunch of the hazelnut and the pastry tart base. But this tartlet doesn’t much of a surprise elements.

Goodwood Park Hotel Durian Fiesta 2016 - D24 Durian Mousse Cake ($12 per slice)

Lastly Goodwood Park Hotel signature items; the D24 Durian Mousse Cake ($12 per slice on the ala carte menu) and the Durian Puff that never disappoint.

The Durian Combo is only available till 31 March 2016. So hurry before you are late.

Other items that are available at the Goodwood Park Hotel Durian Fiesta 2016 are the popular Durian Rainbow Ice Cream Cake that was introduced last year. With the success of the petite version, in the Goodwood Park Hotel Durian Fiesta 2016, it is also available at the 10.5-inch long version. I have yet tried this so I gotta do so this year.

Lastly the star debut of the year is the Mini D24 Durian Ice Cream Bar that is available in 6 different flavours – Original, Dark chocolate, White chocolate with rainbow sprinkles, Milk chocolate, Pink chocolate, and Milk chocolate with almonds.

My Sister Bakes is a humble looking shop located at Block 81 of Macpherson residential estate. It started as an online home bakey before getting a shop as its bakery. I have wanted to pop by to try their cake ever since I spotted them on instagram, when their shop was under renovation. But never find the time and chance till the Saturday.

When they first started at MacPherson where they now are, was as a cafe. Then moved on to focus as a bake studio. And now, they retail the sliced cake and some other bakes only on weekends. (I didn’t know about it until I my impromptu popped by.)

My Sister Bakes - Counter

The speciality at My Sister Bakes is the Butter Cakes, with a main focus on customising cakes for all occassions and even the gorgeous dessert tables too. And they conduct cake decoration workshops too. All cakes come in sizes 6″, 8″, 9″ and 12″.

My Sister Bakes - Available Cakes on display

The name My Sister Bakes was chosen as Esther, the baker, started her baking back in Melbourne and from then her love for baking developed and she is non-stoppable. She explore new recipes and her siblings were her guniea pigs for the taste test.

On the day of my visit, a Saturday in February, 7 cakes and 3 tarts were available. The 7 cakes were After eight, Choc chips, Classic chocolate, Earl GreyMatcha, Milo Dino and Red velvet nutella; while the 3 tarts were
Chocolate banana tart, Chocolate cookie butter tart and Yogurberry choco tart.

My Sister Bakes - Earl Grey Lavender Cake

I decided to get a sliced of cake and a tart to try them out and see how they fare. I went for the Earl Grey Cake. What I like about this cake is the dense but yet soft cake with thin layer of butter cream, not too cloying sweet. It has a good enough Earl Grey scent. Personally, I find it just nice though I wouldn’t mind it stronger.

My Sister Bakes - Yogurberry Choco Tart

Among the 3 tarts available, I though Yogurberry Choco Tart sounded unique. The tart has chocolate and strawberry in the biscuit tart and topped with yogurt like cream and biscuit crumbs, drizzled with chocolate sauce. I like the combination.

NAHMJ Verdict

My Sister Bakes cakes are not only a feast to the eyes but certainly to the tastebuds too. A pity one could only get their hands on the slices over the weekends. But I suppose good things are worth waiting for.

Salted Egg Croissant Craze In Singapore - Antoinette Salted Egg Croissant

Though Antoinette wasn’t the first to jump onto the Salted Egg Croissant ($6.50) craze in Singapore but was touted to be the best by many foodie. It is available at all 3 Antoinette outlets but expect long queue. Daily supply is far below demand. As such, either queue early or wait for the craze to taper off.

Croissant was lightly buttery with a crispy outer. In fact, it wasn’t the croissant that was outstanding but the salted egg yolk cream filling. It was smooth, creamy and it has a good amount of salted egg yolk flavour to be savoured.

Sales of this trend food at the Penhas starts at 11am, Sofitel So Hotel at 1pm while Mandarin Gallery to be determined out.

Salted Egg Croissant Craze In Singapore - Asanoya Salted Egg Croissant

The fame Japanese bakery, Asanoya that swept Singapore in a storm when it opened has also introduced its version of the Salted Egg Croissant ($4.50). We know the standard of its pastries but what about the salted egg yolk cream. It is a sweet version instead of the savoury ones. So it is depending very much on one’s preference.

The salted egg croissant by BreadTalk are in mini form. I thought this is good way to eat it since some may not be able to finish the entire pastry as it may be too cloying for some. The flavour is slanted towards the sweet spectrum. It is sold at $1 each. Currently, there is a promotion of buy 6 get 1 free and buy 10 get 2 free.

The Salted Egg Croissant ($5.90) is available between 3pm and 5 pm from Tuesday to Friday, 11am to 3pm on Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday.

I have read quite a number of reviews on Instagram saying it was sweet. I was pretty puzzled. I tried and found that the sweetness was from the croissant; buttery with a sweet tint. The salted egg cream filling was smooth, creamy but a little more runny and lightly salted egg yolk flavoured. Personally, I prefer it to be more intense.

Beside the Salted Egg Croissant, Bridge created an innovative flavour, the Truffle Crustard Croissant too.

The sixth to release the Salted Egg Croissant ($6.90) and it is available at all its Da Paolo Gastronomia. I visited the one at Raffles Place.

Personally, I think it didn’t fare as well as its other pastry items. The croissant is generally all right while the salted egg cream filling has lots of room of improvement. It was quite salty and as such masked the flavour of the salted egg. Most importantly the filling was not looking creamy and smooth, the oil didn’t blend well with the rest of the ingredients.

Salted Egg Croissant Craze In Singapore - Kokomama Salted Egg Croissant

Interestingly, the salted egg yolk filling in Kokomama Salted Egg Croissant ($6.50) seems to have curry leave flavour. I may be wrong. A pity that it was far too salty and the oil was seen floating around the cream. There is lots of room for improvement.

I tried about 2 weeks later after the first trial and with an improved recipe, the version was so much better.

NAHMJ Verdict

The best Salted Egg Croissant is yet to conclude. I used to believe that salted egg goes well with anything, everything. But somehow, personally, I didn’t find that salted egg yolk and croissant combination work in general. I didn’t relish the combination. So if it requires queuing, I won’t waste time queuing for any, unless Mom wants it.

I am sure more will be introduced into the scene. Keep watch.

I am always glad that yet another bakery or cafe is up in the operation. Here we have Abbey Road Bakery at East Coast Road. It is very interesting that they named the bakery as Abbey Road. I wonder what’s the reason behind.

Before I visited the bakery, I didn’t know that Abbey Road Bakery is mainly a takeaway bakery store. I was kinda surprise. As I expected that they have a few tables and chairs to provide for dining in. As such due to the expectation I have, I was a little disappointed with the business model.

Abbey Road Bakery - Counter

The bakery was rather plain and industrial looking. I suppose the main reason was the cemented floor that contributed to the look and feel. A counter with 2 glass section displaying the bakes and an prominent espresso machine on the inside of the counter.

Menu were chalked on blackboard around the wall of the counter.

Abbey Road Bakery - Pies Available

Abbey Road Bakery - Cakes Available

Very soon, after I step foot into the bakery, my eyes were turned to the 2 glass counters displaying the various bakes of Abbey Road Bakery. At each counter, there were only 4 types of bakes; 4 pastries and 4 cakes. I felt the selection was limited. I spotted thinly shaped Chicken Pie and Beef Pie, Cinamon Roll and Salted Caramel Tart on one counter; with the other filled with Red Velvet, Caramel Cheesecake, Carrot Cake and Old Fashion Chocolate Cake.

Abbey Road Bakery - Chicken Pie

I didn’t find the selection tempting as such I went only for its frail looking Chicken Pie, not to my liking as the pastry was far too oil. The oil stained the side of the paper bag where the chicken pie rest. I could even see oil drops. And the filling was too bland for me. In short, I wasn’t impressed.

I have yet to try the cake but I am sure I will want to try it out soon.

NAHMJ Verdict

Based on the first item I tried, I thought there are rooms for improvement.

Korean products are swarming Singapore, islandwide. With the likes, Churro101, and other Korean Soft Serve, Sweet Monster that invaded Singapore recently, it was followed closely by the popular Korean chain, Mr Churro at Ion Orchard.

Mr Churro is set up as a kiosk at basement 4 where the food kiosks gathered. It is freshly prepared upon order. You could watch, take photo or video of the churros in making.

Churros By Mr Churro

At Mr Churro, a variety of churros were served out from the tiny kitchen at Ion Orchard Kiosk. Their churro has a slight chewy texture and a crisp outer. Quite addictive when it was eaten with the dips.

First and foremost is the Original Churro ($4.50). This is a simple churro shaped in a loop with spice sugar on it. It is a signature item at Mr Churro.

Mr Churro Singapore - Original Churro ($4.50)

Nutty Churro ($5.90) is one of the best seller. It is great for churro lover who enjoy both chocolate and nuts.

Mr Churro Singapore - Nutty Churro ($5.90)

Churro with Dip ($5.00), selection of dips are Custard, Blueberry and Dark Chocolate. My personal favourite is the Dark Chocolate Dip as I am a chocolate person.

If you like ice cream with churros go for its Ice Cream Churros ($6.50), yet another best seller at Mr Churro.

Vanilla and Banana Milk Ice Cream in the form of soft serve were served with the original churro. Banana Milk flavour was specially created for Mr Churro Singapore outlet. So you won’t find it in Korea, at least for now. Personally, I like the Banana Milk Ice Cream. It complemented perfectly with the chocolate, nuts and churros.

The other 2 products that were available at Mr Churro were Filler Churro ($4.90) where the sauce, Chocolate or Milk Custard were piped into the Churros, and the Mini Churros at box of 5 ($8.90).

Drinks

At Mr Churro Singapore, an option of hot drinks or Green Grape Ade at an additional $2.50 or for frappe at $4 when purchase of any churro is available as an option.

Ala carte option is also available.

Mr Churro Singapore - Hot Drink - Coffee (Black) - $3.50

Likewise for its ice cream.

NAHMJ Verdict

I have previously blogged about Les Delices cakes. At that time Les Delices Macarons weren’t yet available. Recently, when I passed by the patisserie, I decided to check out for new products and saw some lovely macarons and SG50 choux.

Les Delices Macarons - 6 Macarons

As the macarons were pretty decent looking with pastel colours, moreover, I have good impression of their cakes so I got hold of a box of 6. Les Delices offers 6 flavours which I tried 5, missing the sesame, though I requested for one each. I was pretty disappointed that the sesame was not in the box, instead 2 lychee macaron was packed.

Macaron Texture and Flavours

Technically, the look of the macaron were almost perfect though there were a few flaws. One of the macaron has a large pocket space and another with feet a little detached. And it was quite lacking in a chewy interior.

Lemon Lime Macaron

The Lemon Lime Macaron isn’t extremely sourish with good balance of sweet and sour factor.

Les Delices Macarons - Lemon Lime Macaron

Passionfruit Macaron

The unique Passionfruit fragrance was inadequate. I thought it was a typical citrus macaron.

Les Delices Macarons - Passionfruit Macaron

Lychee Macaron

I don’t taste the Lychee much, instead it was dominated with Rose flavour instead.

Les Delices Macarons - Lychee Macaron

Vanilla Bourbon Macaron

Sweet was this macaron with good scent of Vanilla.

Les Delices Macarons - Vanilla Bourbon Macaron

Chocolate Macaron

Just another chocolate macaron. Nothing unique.

Les Delices Macarons - Chocolate Macaron

Verdict

I thought there are room for improvement for Les Delices Macaron. Tweaking to the flavour is essential. The macarons were slightly sweeter though I could accept it. But, a reduction of the sugar level would be perfect.

I have previously posted a blog on Angelina Singapore Cafe but since I am on a macaron pilgrim, I popped over to its Boutique to get the remaining flavours that I have not yet tried.

Angelina Macarons - Box of 8 macarons

At Angelina, Macarons come in box of 4s, 8s or 20s. I got hold of a box of 8 macarons. They offered a total of 10 flavours. Pistachio and Raspberry were out of stock on my visit. Lucky, these were the flavours I tried previously.

Angelina Macarons Shell Taste and Texture

The shell of Angelina Macarons look pretty rough though the rest of the perfect macaron element exist. Unfortunately, one of the macaron, was with a huge pocket of air on the top. As a result, the crisp was chip off.

The macaron was richly coloured with soft interior. It was lacking of the chewy interior.

Cassis (Blackcurrant) Macaron

It was a fruity Blackcurrant fragrance in the macaron. But as always, such flavour remains me of cough syrup. Fortunately, it does not taste like one.

Angelina Macarons - Cassis (Blackcurrant) Macaron

Frambosis (Raspberry) Macaron

Raspberry, likewise was fruity and was more sourish.

Citron (Lemon) Macaron

The most sour among the fruity flavour was the Lemon. Tangy, zesty and lemony.

Angelina Macarons - Citron (Lemon) Macaron

Chocolat Passion (Chocolate Passion fruit) Macaron

This was the second time I tried the Chocolate Passionfruit. The flavour wasn’t too consistent. First was more chocolate while the second attempt was more of Passionfruit. I prefer the latter though.

Angelina Macarons - Chocolat Passion (Chocolate Passion fruit)

Mont Blanc (Chestnut)

The chestnut was far too faint. I would prefer to give it a miss totally.

Angelina Macarons - Mont Blanc (Chestnut)

Pistache (Pistachio) Macaron

Pistachio impressed me most. I wouldn’t mind having a box of 8 of only Pistachio macarons.

Angelina Macarons - Pistache (Pistachio)

Vanille (Vanilla) Macaron

Vanilla was too subtle hence it seems like it was a sugar loaded macaron instead.

Angelina Macarons - Vanille (Vanilla)

Caramel (Caramel) Macaron

If you wouldn’t mind the typical caramel taste, this isn’t a bad choice.

Angelina Macarons - Caramel (Caramel)

Café (Coffee) Macaron

Bitterness of the coffee was a little too strong for a macaron. Other than this flaw, it was all right.

Angelina Macarons - Café (Coffee)

Chocolat (Chocolate) Macaron

Nothing surprising, an usual chocolate tasting macaron of dark chocolate.

Angelina Macarons - Chocolat (Chocolate) Macaron

NAHMJ Pick

NAHMJ’s picks are the Pistachio and Chocolate Passionfruit macarons.
