At the historically-rich Dempsey where once was a nutmeg plantation and then housed the British Forces is now home to the TBB Safari, the fifth Tiong Bahru Barkery outlet, who is sharing the same premise as their sister brand, the Open Farm Community. The Tiong Bahru Bakery brand by Spa Espirit is no stranger to most Singaporean. With their first lcoated at Eng Hoon Road. Subsequently, they have one in Raffles City, Tangs Orchard and also at Chip Bee Gardens.
Dinning in a glamping environment with huge tent sheltered the head brings one to the Safari dessert. This theme was conceived after Cynthia Chua’s (Founder of Spa Espirit Group) trip to Botswana, Africa. Furnished with vintage ornaments and furniture collected from various flea markets in the world and with Kilim carpets covering part of the floor to bring out the ambience as much as possible.
The gigantic tent is cooled by special air coolers that are stationed at the corners. These Eco-friendly coolers will cool the space to 25°C.
We are familiar with the offerings by Tiong Bahru Bakery such as the signature Handmade Croissant and of course many other pastries and cakes.
Exclusive At TBB Safari
At TBB Safari, there are a handful of exclusive items such as the Rainbow Power Breakfast Jars infused with Asian flavour. These tasty jars are packed with anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory goodness.
For some familar flavour, go for the Pandan-infused pineapple with Tapioca pearls (sago) and coconut milk ($8.50). If you like sesame, you will be pleased with the Papaya infused with tumeric on rolled oats in black sesame-infused milk ($8.50). Lastly, the Apples on birscher muesli with rojak flowers ($8.50).
Some may have already tried the caffeine-free TBB teh tarik ($7). And also the bluish Blue bell latte ($6) that was introduced in the Blue Bell Breakfast.
To add on more colours, which are exclusive to TBB Safari are the yellowish Tumeric and Ginger Latte ($6.50) and the pinkish Beetroot and Ginger Latte ($6.50).
Lastly, the grand finale, leaving the best for the last, my favourite Wild Safari Cake ($9.50). Banana mousse, banana passionfruit confit encased in chocolate sat on a crunchy coconut praline feuiletine. Lastly topped with a leopard spot white chocolate coin, finishes with gold flakes for an elegant touch. A must for the chocolate and banana fan.
NAHMJ Verdict
TBB Safari is the wildest concept unveiled by Spa Espirit this far and we love it. Furthermore, with the exclusive items offered at this outlet making a visit for these newly created dishes, especially the Wild Safari Cake becomes a must.
