When we hear the words Ang Kor Wat, we think of Cambodia. As such, don’t mistaken Ang Kor Wat Restaurant for a Cambodian restaurant. In fact, they serve Singaporean favourite cuisine, Thai food.
Located at the edge of the hustling CBD, it offers a quaint environment for the executive to get away for a quiet lunch.
The name is inspired by the iconic Buddhist temple in AngKor Wat and they
aim to provide diners with serenity and calmness.
From Ang Kor Wat Menu
Ang Kor Wat boasts a plethora of familiar crowd-pleaser and crowd favourite Thai dishes.
Begin the meal with well-marinated chicken Skewers. Best paired with beer.
Cashew Chicken though was tasty, it was a little dry.
Our favourite among the 8-course was the signature Crispy Pork Belly. We agreed that we shouldn’t share this dish.
Generous amount of fresh seafood in the Superior Tom Yum Soup. It was too spicy for me to tolerate and strangely, it slanted towards the sweet spectrum.
The Sambal Kang Kong likewise was saccharine, however due to the beany favourite, it complemented.
Another dish with more sweet hint, the Thai Red Curry; very spicy too.
Before ending the meal with dessert, we have the Seafood Bucket. Sweetish nutty sauce perfectly for the seafood selection of crayfish, clams and prawns with corn pieces. We love this dish.
Finally, wash it down with Red Ruby. Chunky red ruby with a crispy water chestnut and lightly chewy glutinous layer. What we love about it was; it was lightly saccharine.
Hit and misses at Ang Kor Wat Restaurant. As long as they tweak a little, adjusting to fit the local palate, they will do fine.
