Rising from a bakery to cafe, Spatula, now not only offers delicious bake but also various brunch items. Located within Kampong Glam with Muslim community dominating the area, it is a Halal cafe, in case, you are wondering.
Spanning across two levels of the shophouse, with cafe at level 1 and private event space at level 2. Various pink and pastel shade don the space. With the lighting it gives a little whimiscal feel. The fairy light over at the event space created an even more cosy ambience.
Milkshakes are highly recommended by the service crew. 9 selections, with some fruity and some nutty. Funfetti ($8) was the crowd-favourite, however, we decided to go with our preferences, Speculoos ($9) and Nutella ($9). The former was too light and it was akin to vanilla, no Speculoos was savoured. As a vanilla, it wasn’t a bad choice though. The latter was a better choice.
We got an item from the Brunch menu, Brunch Platter ($17). Comprises of 2 slices of Cinnamon French Toast, 2 Grilled Chicken Sausages, 2 Scrambled Eggs, Sauteed Spinach and Sauteed Tomatoes, the serving was generous.
Next was the Spicy Chicken Pizza Toast ($16) from the Mains menu. Lots of chicken sausage with abundant cheese sat on a bed of spicy tomato sauce base and multigrain bread. Accompanied with shoestring fries and greens.
6 difference waffles selection with either half or full porition were offered. Our choice was the S’Mores Waffle ($9 half portion). Half a Vanilla Waffle with Chocolate Ice Cream drizzled with chocolate sauce and mini marshmallow.
Personally, I prefer the Banana Fosters ($8.50); a plate of caramelised banana with vanilla ice cream. If Spatula could serve a premium ice cream, the experience would be better.
NAHMJ Verdict
Overall, the portion served at Spatula was huge, value-for-money was the conclusion.
