Carrotsticks and Cravings, what a cute name when I first heard about them, was my thought. Located at Loewen Garden where once was the spot for Farmer Market at Dempsey. Though I am not certain if it still existed today. For those who know MoCa Cafe, it is suited behind them.
For those like me who do not drive and solely rely on public transport (I mean bus and walk); getting to this secluded spot is not easy. However, I think it is worthwhile for once.
Al Fresco dinning is what Carrotsticks and Cravings offers. Seats and tables at the patio with potted greens and white-washed wall. If you are looking for indoor dinning with air-conditioning, there are a few bar seats.
I laid my eyes on Smashed Avo with Smoked Salmon and Poached Eggs ($26). It isn’t the cheapest Avocado Toast but certainly one of the prettiest and tastiest. Some spice were added to the avocado and the light brine on the Smoked Salmon elevated the flavour. And … the Poached Egg; as long as these are flowy, we approved.
A handful of Smoothies Bowl were on the menu. We struggled to decided between the Berry Coconut Acai bowl ($14) and the Açai Berry Bowl with Peanut Butter Granola as both sounded too tempting. As much as we would love to order both, we didn’t want to waste food. The former has more charm and won. We love the berry light, icy smoothies.
At Carrotsticks and Cravings, handful of pastries are available too. Alluring Almond Croissant was what we added. There is certainly lots of room for improvement for this item. It was lacking in all the elements that define a delicious pastry.
As oppose to the Almond Croissant, the Carrot Cake was a winner. It scored almost a perfect ten. It was moist, with sufficient amount of spice and fruit and carrots. A good cream cheese frosting however, I wish it was thicker.
Cappuccino was the nutty, low acidic, full body cuppa which most of us will appreciate.
We love the food offerings at Carrotsticks and Cravings but can’t say so for the location.
