When you are looking for Clement Marot along Rue, looked out for Club Marot instead. This is yet another restaurant in the Michelin Guide 2018. They were awarded the Michelin Plate.
As I was writing this post, I googled for the address and so on and I came to notice that Chef Clement Marot has since retired and hence helming the kitchen is someone new and young. It was a pity that I never had the chance to savour his cooking. No comparison could be made as such.
It was for lunch that I was at Clement Marot for. Menu was in only in French which ease ordering. Between the Menu of the day and the Lunch Set (more expensive), I opted for the latter comprised a starter, main and dessert.
Among the choice of starter, I chose Carpaccio de pied de cochon, ravigote de lentilles et petits croutons. Thinking that it will the thinly sliced raw beef. However, it was a mix of meat belly therefore you can expect lots of fats. The added lentil and olive oil flavoured up the dish. The sourish flavour reduce the cloying feel of the fats. Overall, it was a tasty dish but could be overwhelming for someone like me who tend to refuse fats meat.
For Main, my choice was the Poisson du jour, sabayon beurre noisette. I was surprised to see that there was a crispy skin attached onto the fish. This fillet has a firmed texture and less oil. Accompanied by brown butter sauce which was an amazing pairing.
Ending the meal with Poire & praline facon Armoricain. I have no idea what ingredients went into the dessert, except for Pear according to the name of the dessert. However, I couldn’t savour scent of pear. It was light and nutty though. Enjoy the pastry together with the ice cream for best experience.
Menu of the day and Set Lunch Menu (right).
A pity I have never savour the cooking by Chef Clement Marot. Though the dish was generally well-executed, however, somehow, I do feel that there is a lack of some element which I couldn’t pin-point. Nevertheless, dinning experience was pleasant.
