Checking In and Out
I check-in almost at midnight hence I was glad that the process was speedy. At checking out, it was a nice gesture that the staff query about my stay. However, I was surprised that they did not print the invoice for me to verify, instead just rattle off the summary of my bill. Secondly, I wasn’t ask if I prefer to pay in Singapore Dollars or Indian Rupee. Decided on my behalf, paid in Indian Rupee hence I incurred a currency conversion fee of 10% of the bill on my credit card.
Though the service staff was friendly and sought feedback of my stay which was a good gesture.
At an area of 42m², it was almost double the size of most hotel rooms, not only in Mumbai but most cities. Even though it was huge, it allowed only a maximum occupancy of 3 guests. Beside the King bed, a sofa, working desk and armchair, guest can request for a rollaway bed at an additional cost and permits a crib.
Allocated room was perched at level 28, right outside was the elevator. Room was relatively quiet even though it was near the lift. However, part of the rooms at one end has the echo effect due to the hollow structure of the building.
The mattress of the King Size Bed was a little soft. At the minimal, it provided support for the back. I prefer it to be firmer. Pillow is too soft which doesn’t provide any support for the neck.
4 buttons by the bedside are switches to the different light. Since it wasn’t labelled, except for the master button, it was all about trials and errors.
The room was equipped with a flat-screen TV (approximately 32-inch). Each room was offered both wireless and wired internet and numerous audio and video jack. It has both the USB and normal electric plugs for the different variations. I counted about 5.
Adjustment for the air-conditioning temperature wasn’t working well. No matter how I increase the temperature, the room remained cold.
The Westin Mumbai Garden City offered 4 bottles of drinking water. 2 were in the bathroom while the remaining beside the Mini-bar.
Complimentary coffee and tea and kettle for hot beverages.
A handful of Indian snacks were part of the minibar.
Outside every room, there was small pigeonhole where the newspaper is placed in the morning for guests.
Even the bathroom was huge. Both bathtub and shower area were offered.
I like the shower area as it was the same level as the floor. In other words, no step.
Both the hand shower and rain shower were available. Adjusting for the right water temperature was easy since there was only one lever.
Shower gel, Shampoo and Conditioner were readily in the shower area.
Iron and ironing board are available, placed in the opened wardrobe, where the luggage can be placed too.
Handful of toiletries were at the sink are and the stock were refilled when used.
There was no laundry line in sight.
Spick and span room each day. I notice no left over hair on anywhere in the bathroom.
3 restaurants were available at The Westin Mumbai Garden Hotel; Prego (Italian restaurant), Taste Seasonal (All day dining) and Kangan Restaurant.
Breakfast at The Westin Mumbai Garden City
A spa, swimming pool, gym and Business Centre were available.
The usual luggage storage, laundry, 24-hour room services and Airport Shuttle were available at the hotel.
Feedback & Response
After my stay, The Westin Mumbai Garden City sent a lengthy survey. Though the intention was to was rate every area, however, I am sure most guest will be turned off by the amount of questions.
The room was at INR 12 500 (exclude taxes) per night for the period from 24 September 2018 to 28 September 2018. The room rate came with a return airport shuttle, breakfast and lounge.
If you are looking for a luxurious hotel in Goregaon East, I would recommend The Westin Mumbai Garden City. Professional service is expected though there are room for improvement too.
