Located right across the Central @ Clarke Quay is a hidden gem along Hong Kong Street; Amò Pizza.
Amò means “I Love” in Italian. Thus, their restaurant is actually read as I love Pizza if we were to translate it to English! They are a casual Italian restaurant, open 7 days a week, serving weekday lunch hours, weekday dinner gatherings, weekend brunches and dinners. Dining options such as dine in, takeaways or delivery via deliveroo are available.
The restaurant’s was designed with a modern yet rustic ambience, providing diners a relaxed environment for food enjoyment. With an open concept kitchen, there is nothing to hide! You get to see the Italian chefs working away and whipping your delicious meals right in front of you.
In addition to a cosy interior dining concept, they do also have an outdoor area as well. Very versatile indeed.
Amò’s specialty will definitely be the classic artisan pastas and homemade pizzas made from premium ingredients such as the natural leaven, semolina and extra virgin olive oil. As a result, the pizzas are thin and light at the same time retaining a unique taste from its sour dough, made easily digestible.
Burrata with Eggplant Salad, Walnuts and Bottarga (S$ 28)
This is our top must have! By using eggplant, it definitely created an unique touch. We seldom see eggplant salad on the menu, agree ? It has a pleasant sourish taste that left us feeling refreshed. This appetizer totally induced our appetite for a sumptuous meal ahead. Hence, we highly recommend diners to start with this “perk-me-up” salad before you dig in to your mains! You will not regret it.
Tagliolini with Spicy Young Cuttle Fish and Squid Ink (S$ 28)
Tagliolini topped with fresh cuttlefish and squid ink lined at the side of the plate. It was a considerate gesture as diners are able to mix the pasta together with the desired amount of squid ink to their own liking. The sauce was not too overbearing and it adds a briny flavor to the plain pasta. However, we would prefer it to have slightly more olive oil added. Nevertheless, it was a delightful dish.
Bone Marrow, Wild Garlic Pesto, and Anchovy Salsa Verde (S$ 32)
Are you a lover for Pesto ? This flavor is for you. This is something different from our usual Hawaiian or BBQ Chicken we frequently order. We love how they paired the ingredients to make this pizza a special and an Instagram worthy dish. Pesto was spread evenly and generously. However, we would prefer the pesto and garlic to have a stronger taste. The dough is very light with thin crust. Probability of unwanted leftovers of thick crusts lying around the table is very low. We are satisfied.
Oh, Did we mention about weekly specials for Pizzas? Do keep a lookout for it as it will change from week to week.
The Final Call
Tiramisu (S$ 15)
Not forgetting to give this signature dessert a try. It’s a must have when you dine at Italian Restaurants. We love the dreamily soft, melt in your mouth texture of the mascarpone cheese. Sweetness level hit us at the right spot, not overly sweet alongside with a subtle bitterness from the espresso and cocoa powder. So savory and satisfying. The ultimate Italian dessert.
Will we dine at Amò Pizza again? A certain YES! Loving the ambience and layout of the restaurant, we could wine down after a long day at work, sit and eat for hours spoiling ourselves with Italian food. Great for gatherings of course. Basically said, Food, Wine and Dine all in one place, Amò Pizza.
