Daily Affairs, A Hidden Cafe At Cairnhill Community Club – Orchard, Singapore

Not far from the shopping belt, Orchard, there is a hidden Cairnhill Community Club, rested in a quaint environment. One of the unit is occupied by a cafe, named Daily Affairs. Previously, it was Memento Patisserie Cafe. If you are looking for a quiet space to meet up your friend over some simple tasty meal, this could be the perfect place.

It isn’t difficult to get here with the nearest MRT station being Newton served by both the North-South and Downtown line. Though a walk of approximate 5 minutes is required. The consolation is much of the walk is within the shade of trees.

Within the cafe, it is filled with mainly functional items with some dripping greens to beautify the space. Right next to the entrance is a rack of home-grown spice and herbs. These greens are used in the dishes served at the cafe.

The Food

As the cafe served Alcohol, Red & White Wine cum Beer, it makes sense to have bar bites.

Daily Affairs, A Hidden Cafe At Cairnhill Community Club - Flamed Touch Teriyaki Ribeye Cube ($15)

Daily Affairs, A Hidden Cafe At Cairnhill Community Club - Soy Garlic Chicken Wings, Half dozen ($9.50)

Two tasty items are the Flamed Touch Teriyaki Ribeye Cube ($15) and Soy Garlic Chicken Wings, Half dozen ($9.50). The meat were tender and the sauce is perfect.

Daily Affairs, A Hidden Cafe At Cairnhill Community Club - Healthy Fresh Harvest ($9)

For the health-conscious, opt for the Healthy Fresh Harvest ($9). Per the name suggested, this bowl consists of a good mix of greens and fruits. Though on the menu, it stated Avocado, it wasn’t available hence strawberry was replaced.

Daily Affairs, A Hidden Cafe At Cairnhill Community Club - Unagi Donburi ($16.50)

Boring and unappetising presentation of Unagi Donburi ($16.50) since it was served in a white boring bowl that used mainly in the Hawker Centre. However, the Eel was absolutely delicious with the smokiness among the sweet Japanese sauce.

Daily Affairs, A Hidden Cafe At Cairnhill Community Club - Altantic Pink Salmon ($17)

One of the most popular item at Daily Affairs is the Altantic Pink Salmon ($17). The ultra crispy skin is separated from the meat which has sweet-savoury honey miso glazed and a contrasting sweet crisp cereal. Served with fries and green by the side. Personally, I find the overall taste a little too saccharine.

Daily Affairs, A Hidden Cafe At Cairnhill Community Club - 8-Hour Braised Beef ($16)

Another popular item, also their signature dish, is the fork-tender 8-Hour Braised Beef ($16). nstead of cooking it in red wine, the Chef at Daily Affairs cooked it in Aged Hua Diao Wine. It came with a sauteed vegetable and smooth creamy mashed potato. A pity it wasn’t soft till it melt in the mouth.

End the meal with Red Velvet Waffle ($9.50) crowned with rainbow coloured marshmallow and the traditional Ice Cream Block.
