As a Rib lover, this was my second visit to Morganfield’s Orchard Central. As a typical American restaurant, you will feel that the lighting in Morganfield’s is slightly dim. Studies have shown that eating in a dimly lit restaurant can cause you to order 40% more calories, but if the food is good, who cares?
For the upcoming America’s Independence Day and Singapore’s National Day, Morganfield’s pays homage to these two great nations in a way only they can. They bring together the best of America’s low and slow BBQ tradition with the sizzling smokiness of Singapore’s iconic satay.
Satay Baby Back Ribs ($36.90)
The ribs are well-seasoned with a deep rich flavor of a classic satay marinade – the satay marinate was hand-rubbed into each rack of ribs, the flavors permeate the baby back ribs as they cook the American way, low and slow. The meat is so tender and lovely with the homemade peanut satay sauce.
The Satay Baby Back Ribs will be launched on 4th of July and available all the way to 31st August. However, I strongly recommended the restaurant to put it on their menu permanently.
Pork Belly Satay ($12.90)
If that’s not enough satay deliciousness, the Pork Belly Satay is a great appetizer to start any meal – an umami blend of spices with tender, smoky and perfectly-charred chunky pork belly accompanied by the tantalizing satay sauce, make this memorable.
Hickory BBQ Baby Back
For those who prefer the classic American ribs, you must try the Hickory BBQ Baby Back – a classic good ol’ American BBQ. Slow cooked then grilled & basted with Hickory BBQ sauce. Served with French Fries & Coleslaw. “Hickory Smoked” BBQ usually adds chunks of wood to charcoal, it gives BBQ its unique flavor. Pork is especially receptive to smoke and hickory is used because it imparts great flavor and the wood is abundant.
Ginger Pop
I tried their Ginger Pop, it is a mix of fresh mint, honey, brown sugar and ginger ale. The drink is so refreshing and it goes so well with the ribs.
Brewlander Love Wild IPA – SG
It is a beer with tropical medley of pineapple, mango & passionfruit aromas, it somehow didn’t win me over. One of the reasons might be due to the food pairing. Usually, food like a cheeseburger or seafood, the flavors from the food will enhance the taste of the beer.
