I was lamenting about the dwelling number of new and worth-visiting cafe in 2018. After my last post about Liberty Cafe, I was excited to spot Earlybird Cafe who has taken over the now defunct Artisty. The owners behind this new cafe, operates Revelry, a Waffle cafe at Lorong Kilat.
Same unit with almost everything the same, the colour scheme and the accessories are different, gave a refreshing vibes.
With the name Earlybird, the interior is transformed to a bird sanctuary. Nest-like lamp shades and floral and fauna dress the ceiling.
After scrutinised the menu, I like to think of Earlybird being a Pancake / Hotcake specialty while her sister cafe focus on Waffle.
First pancake I have was the Chicken & Pancakes ($19). A savoury and at the same time, a sweet item. Tasty crispy fried chicken stripes sat on house-made buttermilk pancake. On the plate is chilli maple syrup with chilli dusting on the chicken. I find there is room for improvement for the batter, as it turned soggy easily. I love the crispy edge of the pancake, giving some nice char-flavour to the dish.
For Sweets, mainly hotcakes are on the menu. I picked the gorgeous-looking Hotcake Bling ($18). A thick house-made hotcake with lemon curd, berries and fairy floss decorated the dish and crowned it with a cone of vanilla ice cream. Presence of lemon curd provide furnish the dish with tangy and zest citrusy flavour, otherwise, the dish will be dominated with only sweet taste.
Medium acidity with full body of Cappuccino ($5.50) comprises dark berries and nutty note pleases me.
Alternatively, a refreshing floral with fruitiness Gryphon Cold Brewed Sparkling Tea, Passsionfruit Ostmanthus Sencha ($6.50) makes a good choice too.

With addition of Earlybird, the cafe scene in the area is getting more competition.
