The good news! Si Chuan Dou Hua Nostalgic Dim Sum Buffet is back again. If you have read my old post about this mouthwatering buffet and have tried it, I am sure you are equally excited like me. Furthermore, the restaurant has rejuvenated numerous Dim Sum.
Together with Master Dim Sum Chef Wen Xin Wen 温新文, Executive Chef Leung Wing Chun 梁永祥 crafted 40 delectable Dim Sum, Signature delicacies, Soup and Dessert Bar to tempt diners.
Si Chuan Dou Hua Nostalgic Dim Sum Buffet
The spread at the Si Chuan Dou Hua Nostalgic Dim Sum Buffet is ever attractive. In addition, the restaurant has up the game by serving 6 items that diner could only have one serving and numerous improvised Dim Sum that taste better.
One Serving Only
The first dish that you get only one serving is Double-boiled Chicken Soup with Abalone, Sea Whelk, Cordycep Flowers and Conpoy 冬虫鸡响螺干贝炖鲜鲍鱼. Flavourful soup with all the correct elements. In other word, perfect.
Flatfish with Signature Soya Bean Crumb in Osmanthus Sauce 香密桂花比目鱼 is the second which we tried. The Soya Bean Crumb complements the oily fish and provides a light crispy texture to the white meat.
Remaining 4 dishes are Meat Platter 川奥大拼盘, Boiled Prawn in Lotus Leaf 竹笼荷香虾, Spicy Chicken 双星辣子鸡 and Stir-fried ‘You Mai’ Vegetable with Black Garlic 黑金蒜炒油麦菜 which we didn’t get to try but we believe it will be delicious.
Recommended Dim Sum By Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant
Some of the highlights in this Ala Carte buffet is Prawn Dumpling with Corriander 芫茜虾饺皇. You will be surprised to find the dumpling taste so much better with some coriander added.
“Siew Mai” with Diced Abalone 鲍鱼什烧卖 is one of the item which fan of the buffet will remember. The luxurious abalone is such a delight. One is not enough.
A new item in this buffet is Deep-fried Lotus with Minced Fish 生煎莲藕夹心鱼茸饼. We tried a similar version at The Chinese Kitchen recently. Loving it.
Coming up next is a Dim Sum that won me over totally and I am willing to sacrifice my waistline for them, Deep-fried Signature Pork Belly Roll with Yam 那些年黄金烧腩卷. Previously served steam and was classic. Initial, I thought the deep-fried bun with fat-dense meat would result in cloying feel, contrary, this enhances the flavour of braised pork instead.
Steamed Chicken and Mushroom with Soya Bean 竹笼豆花水蒸鸡 is our least favorite. As it was too bland.
Mixed review for the Minced Meat Dumpling in Green Tea Paste 香米绿茶饺. Either you love it or you hate it. I belong to the latter. I find the green tea flavour weak and didn’t think it paired well with the sweetish minced pork. The wrap was too soggy and I didn’t enjoy the overly sweet taste of the dish
Steamed Vegetarian Dumpling with Black Truffle 松露上素饺 was surprisingly palatable even though it was a vegetarian dish. Perhaps the reason for flavouring this dish was the truffle. Everything with Truffle taste good.
In addition to the recommended items, we tried the Stir-fried Carrot Cake 古法萝卜糕. A well-balanced. However, a little wok hei would increase the taste of the dish.
By now, we needed our desserts.
Deep-fried Peanut Cake in “Teochew” style 潮州紫薯炸油果 was one of the dessert. Deep-fried Mochi-like wrap with ground chunky peanut.
Lemongrass Jelly with Fresh Fruit 鲜果香茅冻 is my kind of dessert. The refreshing cucumber provided a different dimension however some didn’t like it due to the light bitterness. Maybe, it will be more accepted if the cucumber skin were removed.
Since Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant is fame for their Bean Curd, there is no reason why one should leave the buffet without the Homemade Bean Curd with Wolfberry 枸杞甜豆花. Absent grassy flavour in the silky tofu made this dessert tantalizing.
From now till 17 June 2018, with every 4 adults, diners get to enjoy the Si Chuan Nostalgic Dim Sum Buffet at $118++ for lunch. Otherwise, the lunch buffet is priced at $38++ per adult and $22.80++ per child.
I know of numerous fan of Si Chuan Dou Hua Nostalgic Dim Sum Buffet and I have started to spread the word to them so that they won’t miss out the best promotion for the year.
