With so many new F&B outlets, Typhoon Cafe, SAMA Curry, just to name a few, recently opened at Plaza Singapura, it is getting exciting. When I first spotted Eggs ‘n Things at the New Wing of Plaza Singapura while they were under renovation, I was extremely delighted since I love eggs and pancake. However, when it opened, I scrutinised the menu, the joy diminished and turned into disappointment.
Despite the fact it was rather pricey, I gave it a try as my friend suggested to dine at this cafe even though I was reluctant. In the hope of Eggs ‘n Things will prove me wrong.
Opened in Waikiki, Hawaii since 1974 offering a highly specialise menu of Eggs, Pancake and Waffle has expanded with overseas outlets in Harajuku, Japan. Their key goals are using fresh ingredients, keeping the prices reasonable, and treating everyone like Ohana (family).
On the menu were 3 categories of eggs; Egg Benedicts, Meats & Eggs and lastly Omelets. Followed by a section of Pancakes and then Waffles.
Since eggs is the highlight, we surely got to order an item. Unanimously, we agreed on the Smoked Salmon & Avocado Egg Benedicts ($19.90). Scantly slices of smoked salmon on the muffin bun, topped with a relatively huge poached egg dressed in ample Hollandaise Sauce. We were glad that both the yolks were runny.
It is interesting to note that in addition to the usual Maple Syrup, Eggs ‘n Things offered 2 other pancake sauces; Coconut and Guava. I thought this was innovative. We felt they could provide a higher quality maple syrup. I was informed by my companion diners that Aloha Ma Maison which is now closed offered the same 3 sauces for pancake, and their taste better. I quite enjoy the Guava sauce with the pancake.
At Eggs ‘n Things, Pancakes with 4 different fresh fruit topping were offered however, diners could only choose one type of fruit; Strawberry, Pineapple, Banana, and Blueberry. Each serving consists of 5 pancake, macadamia nuts and a mountain of fresh whipped cream. Our choice was the Fresh Strawberry, Whipped Cream & Macadamia Nuts Pancake ($19.90).
The popular choice drinks at Eggs ‘n Things is the Smoothie. We ordered 2 of them, the Banana Acai Smoothie and Mixed Berries Smoothies. Both were equally tasty.
