Earlier, I walked into Septime, a Michelin Guide restaurant also in the 11th arrondissement which turned me down when the restaurant was more than half empty at about 1pm. On this occassion, I didn’t utter some French with my odd accent. I usually start with a few words such as “Bonjour. Une person.” Anyhow, I was extremely glad that it happened hence I had the opportunity to dine at Le 6 Paul Bert. An excellent choice which I highly recommend.
Le 6 Bert Paul from the exterior is a humble-looking with red donned wall which is attractive. Interior wasn’t what I expected. I felt it was world apart from the facade. Space was mainly decked with wooden furniture as such, I felt it was cosy.
Menu is in French at Le 6 Paul Bert. There isn’t a English menu available. I don’t know much French but it was good enough to allow me to place my order. However, I must admit I didn’t fully comprehend the entire menu though.
When I saw the price of the lunch set, I was shocked. I thought I understand the menu incorrectly. 3-course lunch set of Appetiser, Main and Dessert is at €22 and that was correct as I paid this amount at the end of my meal.
No frill at Le 6 Bert Paul. Unlike most French Restaurant which they will serve you some fancy bread then a Amuse Bouchers and followed by your choices and more regular bread. Instead you get what you order.
Starting with my first course of choice, Mousse de Foie de volaille, kadaif, croustillant, houmous. As these are presented in terms of spread, it has to be enjoyed with bread. Hence after my first dish, I was 60% full.
Choice of Main was fish and pork, my choice was the latter, Poitrine de Porc, polenta, salade de roquette et jus de viande. Don’t judge from its look. It will amaze you by its taste. I was mesmerized by the flavourful, well marinated pork. Beside pepper and salt, some spice, familiar though I couldn’t pin-point the ingredient, was added to the marination. The jus and the polenta was equally outstanding.
Rounding up the wonderful meal with the Mille Feuille. When I saw the intimidating amount of cream, my heart sank. I was wrong. The cream was light and complemented the pastry perfectly.
In a nutshell, the lunch at Le 6 Bert Paul was value for money. It exceeded expectation. I highly recommend all to the restaurant especially for lunch.
