Leisure and Retail Experiences for the 21ST Century – Celebrate Downtown Gallery’s Official Opening at Yellow Bash

With Yellow Bash, OUE celebrates the official opening of Downtown Gallery on 26 January, the newest retail destination located in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District.

The Whisky Distillery (#01-11)

When you entered The Whisky Distillery, you will realize that the shop is a favorite destination in Singapore for whisky aficionados. They carry around 200 types of Rare Whisky sourced from different distilleries across Scotland. You may not find the bottles in normal duty free shops. The Whisky Distillery is able to fill in the niche in the Singapore market for Fine and Rare Whiskies.

Takayama (#01-09/10)

Japanese cuisine encompasses the richness of Japanese culture, the chefs perform culinary magic right before your eyes.

Tried their appetizer in bento, the sweet prawn is so fresh, it has a bit of a slimy texture with sweet taste. It is so pleasurable to consume.

Wafuken (#02-23)

WAFU – Japanese style of western cuisine

KEN- Kenko, which means wellness in Japan

I ordered Salmon fillet with Cold Buckwheat Soba, the texture of Norwegian salmon is smooth and silky – understand from the chef that they use a modern cooking techniques – Sous-vide (Su-veed) to cook all their proteins. And usually Sous-vide cooked food is mostly found only in exorbitant gourmet restaurants.

The Providore (B1-07)

There is a hidden gem at basement, we came here for the dessert.

The lemon meringue tart is not too sweet and has just enough of lemon accent that being overbearing.

Chen’s Mapo Tofu (#02-29)

The surname Chen is in fact referring to Chef Chen Kentaro, 3rd Generation owner of Shisen Hanten (四川饭店) which originated and boasted 14 outlets across Japan. With Japanese heritage in its belt, donburi seems a right fit for Chen’s Mapo Tofu. The star dish of the place definitely goes to Mapo Don. While Szechuan classics usually come smack at your face with bold and strong flavors, Chen’s Mapo Tofu was somewhat mellower and subdued, perhaps to cater to the local CBD crowd. Honestly, I am not so into their Mapo Tofu because I feel that it is too salty for me, but the craft hanging on the wall really attracts me. It brings happiness, prosperity to the coming Lunar New Year!

This is a great place to dine, drink and even workout after work and de-stress with a variety choice of restaurants and cafeterias.
