Yi Dian Xin Hong Kong Dim Sum Singapore At Kovan - Dim Sum Feast

Yi Dian Xin Hong Kong Dim Sum Singapore At Kovan – Hougang, Singapore

Yi Dian Xin Hong Kong Dim Sum Singapore 一点心港式点心 has the same name as the one in Hong Kong which I previously featured on NAHMJ. This is a very common name for Dim Sum. Even Imperial Treasure has Treasures Yi Dian Xin located at Paragon too. They have 2 outlets, one at Kovan where we visited; the other is at Sembawang.

This Dim Sum place is not a restaurant, neither does it has air-conditioning. It is a humble stall with eye-catching pink signage in a kopitiam.

Yi Dian Xin Hong Kong Dim Sum Singapore At Kovan - Menu

Yi Dian Xin doesn’t has a large and extensive menu, however, they offer a good selection of crowd-favourites with mainly Steamed and Fried stuff. A handful of Pau (Bun) and others such as Congee, Rice Roll and Steamed Rice.

Order is easy. Take an order chit and indication the quantity of desired items. Next hand it to the service crew. Wait for the food to serve, pay and enjoy.

Yi Dian Xin Hong Kong Dim Sum Singapore At Kovan - Yi Dian Xin Prawn Dumpling ($3 - 3pcs)

Yi Dian Xin Hong Kong Dim Sum Singapore At Kovan - Siew Mai with Mushroom ($3 -3pcs)

At any Dim Sum meal, there are always 2 must order items, as such we ordered the Yi Dian Xin Prawn Dumpling ($3 – 3pcs) and Siew Mai with Mushroom ($3 -3pcs). Personally, I find them mediocre. Though the texture for Siew Mai filling was chewy, however, it was overdone till it was akin to fish cake. I prefer to have a little more grainy texture of the pork. The marinate which was mainly salt was a little too much.

Yi Dian Xin Hong Kong Dim Sum Singapore At Kovan - Beancurd Prawn Roll ($3.20 - 3pcs)

Beancurd Prawn Roll ($3.20 – 3pcs) was the only fried item we ordered. What I like was the crispy beancurd outer. Likewise, I didn’t like the filling as it was a briny fish cake.

I thought the Chee Cheong Fun Prawn ($3.50) was considerably well executed with smooth, silky rice roll.

Yi Dian Xin Hong Kong Dim Sum Singapore At Kovan - Steamed Carrot Cake ($2.60)

Steamed Carrot Cake ($2.60) was soft and smooth. The texture was unique to those which we tried so far. In it were the radish and other ingredients that flavoured the entire item.

We order a Shanghai “Xiao Long Bao” ($3 – 3pcs) too, but I didn’t get to try. The feedback was it was below par.

Yi Dian Xin Hong Kong Dim Sum Singapore At Kovan - Signature Egg Custard Bun ($3.80 - 3pcs)

We love the Signature Egg Custard Bun ($3.80 – 3pcs). My personal favourite among 7 items we tried.

NAHMJ Verdict

If I return to Yi Dian Xin Hong Kong Dim Sum Singapore, I will order the Signature Egg Custard Bun, Rice Roll and I will try other dishes on the menu.
