Korea House Singapore At Killiney Road – Somerset, Singapore

It was previously occupied by What’s This Korean Restaurant , then Unochubo and now Unochubo has re-branded to Korea House Singapore. Hopefully, they will be around for a while since we like their food.

Like most Korean restaurant in Singapore, the restaurant has a very causual setting. But strangely, though they have a long side row of seats but it wasn’t exactly utilise. The arrangement is very unusual. Anyway.

At a glance, the menu offered by Korea House is of typical Korean items with various stews, Bibimbap and pancake. The items are in Korean name however there are English description. That was a consolation.

We asked for some recommendation and the friendly crew suggested us some of their popular items which eventually turned order.

Korea House Singapore At Killiney Road - Complimentary Sides

Swiftly 4 complimentary sides were served once order completed. I thought the sides usually come in odd number but for this case it was even. The sides were uncommon and there was this interesting looking leaves with a memorable flavour which we have never savour previously; a first for us. Some like it while some don’t. I love it though. I love the raw vegetables with the soybean paste sauce too.

Korea House Singapore At Killiney Road - Beef Dolsot Bibimbap ($15)

There is always two version of Bibimbap; a cold one, Beef Bibimbap ($14) or the one in hot stone, Beef Dolsot Bibimbap ($15) which we opted for. We thought the sauce was too little for the entire bowl but it turned out to be perfect amount. This sauce has a good balance. It was mildly spicy too. Somehow, I feel that the flavour was more intense when eaten at room temperature.

Korea House Singapore At Killiney Road - Galbi Jjim Set ($25)

Korea House Singapore At Killiney Road - Kimichi Jjigae in the Galbi Jjim Set

Galbi Jjim Set ($25) consisted of the Braised Beef Short Ribs, Kimchi Jjigae and soft drink. The Braised Beef Short Ribs was a little sweet for our preference. We love the sauce with rice though. We thought this should be a kid-friendly dish. Instead, we love the Kimchi soup. It was of a perfect balance we we have never tasted before. We felt that the portion is good for 2 person.

Korea House Singapore At Killiney Road - Haemul-Pajeon ($14)

Haemul-Pajeon ($14) was a side item which we ordered among the 6 selection. This one served at Korean House Singapore has a different texture to what I have tried so far in Singapore. It has a denser and thicker pancake. Certainly soft and very lightly chewy. Lots of seafood hidden between the dough. Due to the abundant spring onion, it has a nice aroma.

Some popular sides available include Tteokbokki ($8), Fried Chicken Wings ($8 for 6pcs), Japchae ($12) which I am keen to try on my next visit.
