Seoul Good Desserts & Coffee is one of the 7 F&B Establishment found at the Punggol Container Park. The remaining 6 are, first and foremost, the most popular Big Fish Small Fish. Next are the drinking holes, Pump Station and Boost @ Banks. Followed by D’Grill and L’Chaim Bistro. Lastly, for dessert, Leung Kee Healthy Dessert.
The exterior of Seoul Good is very attractive due to the cute penguin.
The interior is even more mesmerizing. I like the cosy and home-like design and feel.
Handful of popular Korean choice starters such as fries and rice cake were offered. And if you loved the Korean Fried Chicken Wings, opt for the Spicy Buloggi Chicken ($7.90-4pcs with iced tea / $9.90-6pcs) if you like it spicy or the Special Sauce Chicken ($7.90 4pcs with ice tea / $9.90-6pcs) if you prefer a more savoury taste.
Either Rice or Spaghetti is available as Mains. Since there are more rice options (5 in total), with tried 2 of them. First was the Myeongdong Chicken Balls with Rice ($9.90). We didn’t associate anything Korean when we saw the meatball. Don’t be fooled by the tomato-looking like sauce, those are spicy buloggi sauce. We didn’t find it fiery spicy as stated in the menu. Instead it was sweet contributed by the abundant onions.
Spicy buloggi beef rice was the other rice dish we tried. The amount of minced beef was too little for the entire bowl of rice. We find that it was very lacking in buloggi sauce.
Finally, our favourite Mains, agreed by all 3 diners, is the Kimichi Chicken Spaghetti ($11.90). This bowl of pipping hot Spaghetti has lots of kimchi, chicken breast cubes and onions in it. Dominated by kimchi flavour as such it could be quite spicy for some.
Seoul Good Dessert & Coffee offers 2 ice-based; Korean Milk Powder ($17.90) or Korean Yoghurt Ice Base ($18.90). Diners could opt Oreo, Mango or Strawberry flavour with either ice-based. We opted for Mango Bingsu with Korean Yoghurt Ice Base ($18.90).
The shaved ice was a little coarse as compared with what we have tried so far such as Nunsaram, Oma Spoon, or even Bibing. The yoghurt flavour was too light. In addition, the syrup settled at bottom resulting in cloying sweet base. We thought if additional ingredient such as cheesecake were added could make the bingsu more appealing and value-for-money too.
A number of both ice and hot drinks were available. We tried the Korean Beauty Tea ($3.50), Refreshing and Citrus. We prefer the former as it was as close as the name suggested. In fact, both were great. The very lightly sweetened Homemade Lemon Tea ($3.90) was equally good. We could savour the tea scent.
NAHMJ Verdict
Overall, at such a wallet friendly price point, we would consider the food served at Seoul Good Dessert & Coffee decent. The exception is the Bingu, a little pricey.
