My friend was in awe about the food served at Marriott Pool Grill. She has been singing praises about the grill. And she insisted that at our next meet-up, we must dine at this restaurant and to utilise her AMEX Love Dining Card at the same time. Though I am a fan of the food served at Marriott, such as Wan Hao, but was disappointed with the buffet served at Marriott Cafe during the 2017 Chinese New Year. Hence I was a little skeptical about it, moreover it is a grill restaurant. In my mind was “How good can it get?” And I must say, I have to agree with her feedback totally. I will return.
View at the Marriott Pool Grill is of course, the Swimming Pool and when one gazed futher, orchard skyscappers are in the view. Personally, I prefer the day view and ambience of this restaurant.
Despite the simple elegant contemporary look of the restaurant, since it is by the pool, it is in Al Fresco dinning style. I mean the restaurant has no air-conditioning.
Swiftly the bread with dips and spread were served right after our order. Butter, Olive Oil with vinegar and a nutty with spice dip accompanied the Foccacia bread.
Our appetizer was the Scallop. The pan fried scalloped sat on the pumpkin puree with caviar topped. Ingredients were fresh however we didn’t like the pairing, the pumpkin puree was far too sweet for the scallop. Personally, I prefer a puree that is more savoury to sweet.
On the menu for Main, mainly grills were offered with a handful of pasta selection. As such, we turned to the Whole Lobster for one of our Main. The light woody and smokiness resulted from the grill complemented the fresh crustacean. Adding some lobster butter on the lobster further elevated the sweetness of the meat. We relished on every bite.
Tenderloin was at the perfect Medium doness. Like the Lobster, the woody and smokiness present on the surface of the steak. And it is this unique flavour that intensified the experience.
Greens accompanied the Mains while we added Fries as side.
NAHMJ Verdict
I would certainly return to the Marriott Pool Grill for lunch and dinner too. And the service was top-notch too. Each and every service crew, in particular the Indian lady who served our table was extremely attentive to our needs.
