I tried Element Fresh in Beijing a few years ago. Back then, it didn’t leave me with a deep impression like this round. In fact, I didn’t plan for a revisit when I was in Shanghai but one after another colleague recommended this. Just like the Blue Frog.
This outlet along Hong Feng Road is located within a hut. In the night, from outside the outlet, it appears closed as the interior looked dark. But don’t be fooled by the view, walked towards the door and you soon see the dim lighting emitting from inside.
Interior s somewhat Scandinavian where mainly light brown woods are used. What I really dislike is the dim orange light.
Elemen Fresh offers quite some eat clean diet item and it offers a few value-for-money set menu too which I opted. Starter was the amazing Mediterranean Plate comprised an extremely delish ciabatta, outstanding cold cuts, cheese and sauteed mushrooms and my favourite olives. The portion was huge. Personally, I felt it was good portion for a light Main.
Using superior cut beef for the chunky Grilled Beef Fillet. It was flavourful and was with perfect doneness. The smokiness from the grill was a great scent for the beef.
Dessert was the Baked Apple Spring Roll. The plate appeared like a mess, especially the jam on the base. It wasn’t appealing. However, once I bite onto the “Spring Roll”, I was surprised and at the same time, impressed. The shredded caramelised apple was used in the roll. Hence the texture is akin to enjoying the savoury Spring Roll, Next they cleverly added some diced caramelised apple by the side as such these enhanced the apple flavour. Finally the vanilla ice cream never failed to complement apple dessert. It was an extremely well executed dish.
Drink wasn’t included in the set and I got the Mint Citrus Tea to warm myself since it was a cold Spring night.
Food served at Element Fresh was absolutely heavenly. I will return when I am back in Shanghai.
