Most of us visit Plaza Singapura alighting at Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station. Many of us don’t step foot into Dhoby Exchange as such will surely miss out on Jai Siam Restaurant, the hidden gem. In case, you came across Jai Thai, they are referring to the same.
Jai Siam Restaurant doesn’t offer any ambience like some of the posh high end Thai restaurant. Instead only good enough dinning furniture for customers to enjoy their food. In addition, they offer valuable Set Menu for as little as 2 pax starting from $27.90 to as many as 8 pax at $117.90. After scrutinising the menu, we decided to go for Set C at $72.90.
Starting with appetisers, the Prawn Cake and Mango Salad. Prawn Cake was chewy and tasty. While the Mango Salad has a good flavour of fish sauce and of course the combination of sweet, sauce, salty and spicy flavour.
Tom Yum Seafood Soup was rich in seafood flavour and it was filled with sourness and spiciness. A pity, there was a light bitterness hint.
In the set, there are also the Fried Chicken Cashew Nut. Tender breast meat pieces but overall was a little too sweet.
Most worthy dish in the set was the Fish Chilli Sauce (Seabass) in any cooking style. We chose Deep Fried Fish with Sweet & Sour Sauce. Loving the dish since fish was fresh and meaty.
Of course a vegetable dish was included too, Fried Mixed Vegetable was the dish.
Lastly, a dessert, Tapioca. Jai Siam seems to be weak at this dish. The Tapioca was not as soft and coconut flavour and sweetness weren’t infused into the Tapioca pieces.
Food served at Jai Siam was authentic and surely wallet friendly.
