With an addition of Raffles Holland V shopping mall in Holland Village, there are more eating options to the excessive supply of F&B establishment in the premise. In the same building, previously, we visited Patissez Singapore. And now, Otto’s Deli Fresh.
Conceptulized by award wining Chef Otto Weibel and helmed by Chef Rick Chow.
Though the entire space looks extreme casual, it isn’t a self service concept. On the contrary, it is a full service deli, from ordering to bill.
Some of the highlights at Otto’s Deli Fresh are Grilled Fremantle Octopus Salad ($17), Bircher Muesli ($6), Beef Stroganoff Fettuccine ($17), Pressed Beef Steak Ciabatta ($20), and Braised Beef Cheeks ($26).
Among the signature items, I tried only the Pressed Beef Steak Ciabatta ($20). I was mesmerized by the overall taste. The delectable tender beef together with the pickle, mustard and mayonaise created this winning flavour. Furthermore, the crispy ciabatta provide the crispy texture to the otherwise boring usual chewy bread alone does help to elevate the palatableness.
Pan Fried Barramundi ($19) was on the point. Though in general, I avoid the fish skin, I would urge all to have the fish together with the crispy skin.
Alternatively, diners could opt for the meat at the deli with a small premium to be cooked and served to the table.
Otto’s Deli Fresh signature desserts are waffles; Burnt Banana Waffle ($11.50) and Valrhona Chocolate Waffle ($12.50). Interestingly, 2 third of the desserts are devoted to waffle and I tried none. Instead I tried the Oreo Brownie ($12.50) and Creme Brulee ($8.50).
Oreo Brownie has a contrasting saccharine brownie and extreme sourness from the berries. A pity, the brownie was a little dry with a lightly rough texture.
Creme Brulee when eaten with the pineapple rum compote was superb. I wish for more compote.
In general, I find the mains at Otto’s Deli Fresh to be more outstanding while there are rooms for improvement for the desserts.
