Christmas is a time where everyone has a good reason to feast. As such, lots of F&B are offering Christmas buffet and in particular the hotels. Recently, we visited Furama, Marriott and now have the Enchanted Christmas 2016 at Park Hotel Alexandra, The Carvery.
The Carvery, helmed by Executive Chef Robert Chan, has a very interesting buffet concept.
Every items served at the buffet is revolving round the Roast. It is a carnivore heaven. Hence the Roast is the main highlights with sides complementing them and desserts to round off the meal.
Enchanted Christmas 2016 At Park Hotel Alexandra, The Carvery
Christmas 2016 at Park Hotel Alexandra is offering buffet lunch and dinner from 12 to 30 December at The Carvery cum festive takeaway is also available.
For Christmas buffet, The Carvery has lined up toothsome Christmas special. The inspiration of these treats are drawn from the Black Forest where one would thought of game, berries, wild vegetables, mushroom, apples and nuts. Together with Executive Chef and his team present the Enchanted Christmas 2016 at Park Hotel Alexandra.
Roasts
Since Roasts is the main focal, let’s dive into it and see what The Carvery has to offer for Christmas 2016 at Park Hotel Alexandra.
For all the beef fan, you must not miss out on the US Black Angus beef. All who love their beef sang praises of it and have their second and third helping. Likewise for us, we love it. Some even wanted to bring home a rib. Lol! It is a shame that this fabulous item isn’t available for takeaway.
Next up is the Crown roast of pork. It is going to be a love or hate dish for it has a strong porky flavour. We love it as it reminds us of the good old days.
Spit-roast chicken with Tarragon is the only available item for takeaway at $38+. Each chicken is approximately 1.8kg, ideal for up to 6 diners. And it comes with roasted winter vegetables and gravy. If you like with a bottle of wine as well, it is at ($68+). Place your order 3 days in advance. The takeaway is available from 9 to 29 December 2016.
One unique factor about the Roast at The Carvery is that they provided lots of unusual condiments such as 4 types of salt (volcano salt, sea salt, spice salt and truffle salt), 2 types of special butter and approximately 10 types of mustard to go along with the meat.
Sides
Special Christmas sides are whipped for the Christmas buffet. First, there is the lightly herby German potato pancakes which has a soft spongy texture. All at the table enjoyed this dish. It is our favourite dish among all the Christmas sides offered.
Next is a green, the Kenyan beans and chestnuts. Green as it is, fresh and crunchy.
Next is the sweet Honey roasted beets. Even those who don’t consume beetroots are willing to have a few pieces.
Followed by the crowd favourite, Spicy maple pecan crusted trout. Personally, I prefer having the trout and the maple pecan separately, though most love savouring it together.
Forest mushroom flatbread is specially tailored for the mushroom lovers. The mushroom is in abundant till you get choked by the smell. The flatbread has a similiar texture and taste to sourdough.
Desserts
Finally, time for desserts! First is the Baked apples with walnut stuffing. The apple texture is on the soft side with significant almond flavour and nuttiness with a crunch from the walnut.
Next is the Buckwheat crepes. Remember to add the Mango Banana onto the crepe for maximum enjoyment. Buckwheat flavour was strong to savour though many mistaken it as burnt taste.
The Blackforest Trifle at The Carvery is one of the best we tried by far. It has perfect ratio of whipped cream, chocolate mouse, berries and so on. Hence, remember to dig right to the bottom of the bowl for the different layers of goodness.
NAHMJ Verdict
This is one of the rare moment that we enjoyed each and every dish at the buffet of Christmas 2016 at Park Hotel Alexandra. The Carvery is certainly up a notch from the rest.
