Lucia Cakes’ owner is a former banker. For the love of baking, she packed her bag and travelled to London to be trained in classical French patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu. The name LUCIA comes from her maternal grandmother, Lucy, who lived in St. Lucia’s Lane in Ceylon. It was from her that Lucia Cakes’ owner learnt how to bake.
At Lucia Cakes, though the selection isn’t as much and as exciting as the rest out there you could find, I could assure you that it is certain that it does taste as good if not better than many others. What I love about their cakes is that they do not use artificial colourings and flavourings. Each and every flavour and cake are using natural ingredients.
Lucia Cake operates mainly as an online bakery with 1 day advance order. You could opt to walk in but do it at your own risk. 😛 Generally, they baked whole cake but they have started offering single serving for takeaway too. The best way is to call them before visiting them if you don’t have an order.
The permanent resident cakes at Lucia are the non baked Ombre Berry Cheesecake and Avocado Lime Cheesecake, Chocolate Fudge and Brownies.
Ombre Berry Cheesecake consisting of berries for the pink layers that are well-balance of sweetness and sourish from the berries while the Avocado Lime Cheesecake is a more sourish cake. Both were so light till I could have more than 2 slices each time.
Die hard Chocolate fans out there, reach out for their rich and dense Chocolate Fudge Cake, 7″ ($45).
One of Lucia Cakes Signature is the Triple Chocolate Brownies ($35) which shouldn’t be missed. You would not regret if you got a box of the slab home. It is by far the best I tried. Certainly, these are great addition to the dessert table especially for party.
We love the cakes. And especially the unforgettable and addictive Triple Chocolate Brownies by Lucia Cakes.
