Many who patron Doodles at Tiong Bahru Plaza and who have tried Bai Wei Shi Pin (百味食品) in Hong Kong will find them alike. Indeed, the concept is similar but you may find that it has lots of difference too.
Personally, the word doodles kind of reminds me noodles. Anyway … it is lame. This small shop is mainly for takeaway. It doesn’t provide any seats.
Doodles has a slogan “Zip-Shake-Eat” as such expect as it is. Menu is simple. First decide on the set. Herbivore Set ($4) consist of a base and 2 vegetable selections. Carnivore Set ($5) comprise of a base and 2 meat. Next is the Omnivore Set ($5) which has 2 vegetables and 1 meat. Lastly, the Om-nom-nomnivore set ($6) has 2 vegetables and 2 meat.
First decide on the base. Selections are Angel Hair, Soba and Fusili. The base selection are nicely packed in convenient packets.
Next choose the toppings, depending on which set of choice. There are about 15 vegetables selections and 11 meat options.
Lastly choose a sauce, Savoury Garlic, Creamy Sesame, Tangy Onion and Spicy. And if one prefer Truffle, add $1. In addition, there are additional compliments of chopped garlic, sesame seed and spring onions.
My choice was the Om-nom-nomnivore set with Soba as base plus seaweed and shredded cucumber for vegetables cum salmon and octopus for meat. While for sauce I have the Sesame. Lastly I asked for all 3 condiments, garlic, spring onions and sesame seed.
Zip it, Shake it and now Eat it. Personally, I thought the taste was refreshing. I like it. But I think the serving size is a little too small for most to fill. What we like is the handy design which is convenient for takeaway.
