Open Door Policy, Gluten & Diary Free Menu – Tiong Bahru, Singapore (Closed)

Open Door Policy, commonly known as ODP. Th restaurant under the Spa Esprit Group introduces the Gluten & Diary Free Menu. This menu was inspired when Cynthia Chua, the women behind Spa Esprit Group, travelled in the United Kingdom. Together with Executive Chef Ryan, this tasty Gluten & Diary Free Menu was created.

Though the Gluten & Diary Free Menu served at ODP is highly suitable for diners who are intolerance to gluten and/or diary, it is also good for those who have no food allergy.

One might very quickly notice the greens on the shelves by a wall. ODP is embarking on its own sustainable food journey by having a supply these garden green for use in the dishes. In general, lighting is low and warm. Seats are comfortably with cosy ambience and friendly crew.

Both Cocktails and Mocktails are also on the menu.

Starters

We started with the Celery and Almond Soup ($24) in the Gluten & Diary Free Menu. Though without the cream added into this soup, it still hold the creamy texture. In addition, it has a beautiful nuttiness flavour present in the soup. Hokkaido scallop and cauliflower added to provide bites and crunch texture to the dish. Me being not a fan of cream soup, love this version.

Slow Cooked Celeriac ($24) with watercress sauce. The tasty key to this dish was the Swiss cured ham “speck” that added a savoury profile and it worked wonder to the dish.

In the Quinoa salad ($24) are fermented root vegetables, garlic soil, garden herbs. Don’t be frightened by the black soil stuff. In fact, this is a tasty that whet you appetite for more food later.

Taste of Vegan Maccheroni Pasta ($24) was as close as the meaty Bolognese Pasta dish both in terms of flavours and texture. It was absolutely impressive. A must order for all.

Seafood lovers should turn to the King Crab Orecchiette ($29). Filled with crab sweetness and to intensify the sweetness, the sugar snap pea was added.

Desserts

Meal was ended with 3 selection of desserts from the Gluten & Diary Free Menu. Among the choices we tried, our favourite is the Why Sundae? ($16). A Soy and palm sugar gelato with peanut butter brittle and honeycomb, gluten and dairy free chocolate brownie and chocolate custard is certainly a great combination. The entire dish is a sweet nuttiness with lots of crunch and bites.

The sweetish jelly-like Light almond milk custard ($16) with a chocolate tuille, complemented with the strawberries, berry sorbet and chopped mint was refreshing.
