Lan Ting Cuisine & Wine 兰亭 located along East Coast Road offering affordable, delish Cantonese cuisine with a modern twist. In case you are wondering what’s Lan Ting 兰亭 means? When translated from Chinese, it means Orchid Pavilion.
Looking from the outside, the common comment from guests are it looks like a fine dinning restaurant that is not within reach. None of these concern is valid at our first visit at Lan Ting Cuisine & Wine.
The kitchen is helmed by 2 teams, the Dim Sum led by Chef Sam Hee, a Gold Medallist Awardee for the Dim Sum Category in the World Golden Chef Competition. While veteran Chef Teo, whose experience stems from working in 5 & 6-star Hotel, decorated with The Gold Certificate by Asia Hotel and Food Association for Peking Duck and Roast Meats take care of the Roast Meats and Cooked Dishes.
Lan Ting Cuisine & Wine features over 30 items. The Dim Sum team handmade these Dim Sum fresh daily. These delicacies are available from 8am to 5pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
Our first Dim Sum item was the luxurious Lan Ting Abalone Dumpling ($9.80 for 3). Filling was with diced chicken and dou miao creating a healthier version of Siew Mai.
Next is the Taro Puff with Diced Chicken ($4.90 for 3). This is one of the rare Taro puff where I could savour a strong flavour of the Taro. The portion of the filling versus the taro was at a perfect ratio too.
Lan Ting Cuisine & Wine has cleverly improvised Singapore top favourite Chilli Crab with Mantou into the creative Chilli Crab Puff ($6.80 for 3). We are sure it will hit off with all Chilli Crab lovers.
The commonly seen, hot favourite among Dim Sum lovers, the Lava Bun has now transformed into the shape of a mushroom giving a visual pleasure. In addition, the Volcanic Lava Mushroom Bun ($5.80 for 3) has a generous filling of salted egg lava that flows well will satisfy diners desire of capturing that moment.
The last Dim Sum we tried was the Steamed “Siew Long Pau” ($4.80 for 3). The soup in the dumpling was generous. But personally, I find the soup a little too rich.
Signature Ala Carte Dishes
At Lan Ting Cuisine & Wine, instead of offering only the Whole Peking Duck ($60), they serve it half ($38) too. This is absolutely thoughtful.
Savouring delectable crispy duck skin together with the sweet sauce and spring onions and cucumber wrapped in a special skin is truly a bliss.
The remaining duck is then prepared into another amazing dish. This require a supplement of $15 for whole duck and $10 for half duck. There are 3 ways to enjoy. First way, the recommended, stir-fried the diced duck meat with pine nuts and diced turnip. Then wrapped these specially prepared ingredients in a lettuce wrap. This is what we chose as our second preparation of the duck.
The second way was to stir-fried with special in-house prepared salt and pepper condiments. Lastly, is to enjoy the slice meat as it is.
Alternatively, diners could opt for the Roast Crispy Duck ($58-whole/$32-half) instead of Peking Duck.
Silky Home-made Bean Curd with Assorted Mushroom ($15) was a good choice for vegetable at the table.
At all Cantonese restaurant, the BBQ is a must have. As such, we have the 2 Kinds BBQ Combination with Char Siew & Pork Belly ($22). The meat were lean hence some may find it dry. But it is a healthier choice which I personally preferred. We enjoy the light sweet honey glaze on the Char Siew. Maybe it would be good if restaurant has 2 versions for diners to choose.
Flooded with euphoria while degusting in the flavourful and ultra crispy skin of the Roast Crispy Skin Pork Knuckle ($28). I won’t want to miss this dish when in Lan Ting Cuisine & Wine.
Using specially mixed spice to fry the Lan Ting Special Fried Rice ($18) therefore expect an extremely light spiciness.
Finally, the Wok-Fried Seafood Udon in Oba Leaf ($18) has full of seafood with overall taste profile lightly sweet.
Ending the dinner with the Snowy Mochi ($5.80 for 3) is a must. These soft delights with mango goodness is a joy and certainly addictive. We are very sure one is not enough.
Overall, we enjoyed the food at Lan Ting Cuisine & Wine. Enjoy affordable pricing delish food at a classy environment is the best one could ask for.
