Keng Eng Kee Seafood Alexandra is around for quite sometime. In case, you are not familiar with this seafood restaurant, it is actually a Cze Char. Its fame dish on instagram is the Moonlight Hor Fun. I have been to the restaurant previously but have never tried the popular dish. This round, i went specially for this dish.
Oh ya, Keng Eng Kee Seafood Alexandra has a small shop floor with air-conditioning. But you need to make the reservation early for the tables there.
Salted Egg Sotong ($12/S, $18/M, $25/L) was the star of the night with all thumbs up.
Mingzhu Roll ($12/6 pcs, $16/8pcs, $20/10pcs) is their house speciality but I never enjoyed this dish as it is too oily and it isn’t as tasty as I expected.
“CHOY HIANG” Beancurd ($12/S, $24/L) is one of the three beancurd dish available at the restaurant. The beancurd was silky and the minced meat enhances the flavour.
Coffee Pork Ribs ($12/S, $18/M, $25/L) was quite a disappointment. I enjoyed the intense coffee scent but the caramelised flavour was far too bold. As such it tasted like the burnt taste.
Sambal KangKong ($12) as always is a hot favourite in Cze Char. We thought well of the sambal.
Lastly, the highlight, Moonlight Hor Fun ($5/S, $8/M, $12/L, $16/XL). Among the table of 6, 5 are having this the first time. Neither of us trying for the first time was Wow by it. The 6th who tried said the standard that night wasn’t the usual. I shall return to try it one more time some day.
The experience at Keng Eng Kee Seafood Alexandra was inconsistent. This round didn’t seem as tasty as my previous dinner. But after all, it was a decent dinner with the Salted Egg Sotong as the saving grace.
