ST ALi Jakarta - Indoor dinning area

ST ALi Jakarta – Indonesia

ST ALi Jakarta is the first outside Melbourne venture. I am wondering why did ST ALi chose Jakarta and not Singapore or anywhere else in the world. After visiting the cafe, I envy the cafe-hoppers who are staying in Jakarta.

ST ALi is quite an established well beloved brand in Melbourne. My friends in Melbourne are big fan of the cafe. They love everything about ST ALi. I am glad that I pop over to ST ALi Jakarta.

ST ALi Jakarta - Pastries Counter

At ST ALi Jakarta, space is rectangular with tables neatly arranged and in a particular pattern. There were 2 bar tables with the same size at 2 corners of the cafe; diagonally across each other. I like the fact that the barista are “exposed”; working in front of the diners. I could see how attentive they are in curating their craft.

On its food menu, offering about 25 dishes under 6 categories. The All Day Eating and Classic Brekky are mainly breaky dishes such as eggs and toasts. The next 3 very much mains for lunch are Hall Of Fame, Breaking Bread and Summer Salad Specials. Lastly, the small bites with only 2 items; french fries and sweet potato fries.

ST ALi Jakarta - The World Famous ST ALi Steak Sanga (Rp 140,000)

ST ALi Jakarta - Steak

There are so many food that I wanted to try. After some contemplation, I went for The World Famous ST ALi Steak Sanga (Rp 140,000). A piece of Australian sirloin steak was slabbed with seeded mustard mayonnaise and is sat on pickled beetroot and greens on sourdough. On the plate was also handful of chunky sweet potato fries. I was charmed by the sweet potato. I thought well of it. The sweet potato could be tasted and it is crispy on the outside. Since my personal preference isn’t sourdough, I didn’t enjoy the bread.

ST ALi Jakarta - Blackout Eclair (Rp 55,000)

Meal without desserts never seems complete. There were 4 flavours, 2 flavours were sold out (Caramelized White Chocolate and a Raspberry flavour); left with Blackout Eclair (Rp 55,000) and Matcha Eclair. I went for the former. The Blackout Eclair is made up of milk chocolate and hazelnut praline filled in a charcoal choux. In it are also caramel cocao nibs and Balinese coconut flakes.

ST ALi Jakarta - Filtered Coffee, Panama Gesha (Rp 85,000)

Coffee is the main draw at ST ALi Jakarta cafe. Hence, one could find the hot coffee with selection of espresso based known as White or Black, the filtered coffee with selection of 4 single origin coffee beans, Filtered Coffee. The Iced Coffee is also available and so is tea. For the non-tea and coffee drinker, they could opt for chocolate drink or Pressed Juice.

I chose the Filter coffee using Panama Gesha – Finca Hartamann (Rp 85,000). I was impressed with this coffee. Smooth and rounded to the palate, medium to low acidity with medium to full body. It is filled with black tea and stone fruits sweetness. Interestingly, the flavoured note is consistent when it is hot and cooled.

NAHMJ Verdict

I like the ambience and the interior design, the food and the coffee. ST ALi Jakarta is filled with positive coffee vibes.
