Most cafe hoppers would be familar with Carpenter And Cook. I am a fan of their pastries and cakes. I am more than happy that they have an outlet, The Bakehouse By Carpenter And Cook, at the Park Hotel Alexandra.
The outlet interior style has always been vintage. The Bakehouse is no exception. From the flooring, to the furniture and ornaments, mainly were vintage items.
At The Bakehouse By Carpenter and Cook, a page devoted to beverages and the other to food.
On a Sunday afternoon, for lunch, the cafe was almost full. Luckily, there was a table for 2 pax. Though they have both Al Fresco and indoor dining, both were with limited seating capacity.
We went for the Parma Ham Pizza ($18), a thin crust pizza with sparingly evenly spread Parma Ham and rocket for each slice of Pizza bread. It offers other pizza such as Crab Meat, Four Cheese, Grilled Aubergine, Pulled Pork and Portobello Pizza.
For Pasta, we went for something very vegetarian, Mushroom Pasta ($16). Though the menu stated Truffle Cream Sauce in Linguine, I could hardly savour or smell the Truffle scent. The consolation was the sauce was rich in mushroom flavour. The other vegetarian pasta available was the Mixed Grilled Vegetables Pasta. The rest were seafood based, Crab Meat, Grilled Prawns, Oven-baked Marinara and Squid Ink.
We ended our meal with a Passionfruit Meringue Tart. One of my favourite pastries from Carpenter and Cook. There are many more other bakes equally good. The other fave of my is the Lemon Meringue Cake. Tiramisu as good too. Oh my, I could go on ranting …
The coffee offered at The Bakehouse By Carpenter And Cook was a balanced cup.
No doubt about the bakes at The Bakehouse by Carpenter And Cook. For its food, there are rooms for improvement.
