Previously, I have cafe hop to one with antique theme too, Old Habits. There were a few others in Singapore as well. Shen & Co is one other with such a theme located at the ground floor of Beauty World. It is right outside one of the exit of the up and coming MRT station, Beauty World.
The shape of the space isn’t the usual rectangular, it is a little odd with the furniture rather randomly arranged. And of course, you get to admire the various antiques on sales.
The dining tables were mainly refurnished from either antique furniture or sewing machine, the tables were with many edges, the ergonomic for dinning was absent. My knees kept knocking onto them, a few bruises resulted from the dining there.
Cakes were displayed over a glass near the ordering counter for cafe hoppers to view.
As I looked around, I saw a diner having a plate of tempting-looking Nasi Lemak and I ordered that as lunch. A pity, my was without Otah as they ran out of it. The rice was a little too wet and coconut fragrance was little. Both the onion omelette and peanut & ikan bilis with real generous amount of salt, especially the omelette. And mind you I have high tolerance for salt, real high but this is beyond me. The consolation was the chilli and the chicken wings.
Cappuccino was below my expectation too. It was milky like latte and bitter.
At Shen & Co, they offered a number of Asian Mains such as Dry Curry Chicken (one of my choice but wasn’t available on my day of visit) and some Western Fusion and Brunch dishes too.
I like the food selection at Shen & Co. The food isn’t the typical cafe food. It provided another worthy option to cafe hoppers in the West when they improved the taste of the food.
