Bao Makers - Counter

The Bao Makers Cafe And Bakery – Horne Road, Jalan Besar, Singapore

With a cafe moved out, another occupied. This happened at 78 Horne Road too. Windowsill Pie shifted out and here comes Bao Makers. There will never be a lack of cafe in Singapore. The style and offerings of the two cafes are entirely different. Another white feel cafe. Seems to be the second half 2015 design trend for cafe.

Bao Makers - Facade

As the name suggested, we would very quickly guessed that Bao is big on its menu. And that’s very true. A total of 6 flavours were found. There are Classic (pork belly), Bulgogi (Pork), Salted Egg Shrimp, Chilli Crab, Teriyaki Chicken and Roasted Veggie. Each came it twos. Lastly a Bao Platter consisting of Classic, Bulgogi, Chilli Crab and Teriyaki.

Bao Makers - Menu

Sides, Mains, Desserts and pretty standard beverages were offered too. A Brunch menu with 3 dishes were available only for weekends and public holidays.

Bao Makers - Counter

The cafe design is mainly minimalist with a touch of industrial as there were cemented walls. A few wall whitewashed to brighten the cafe.

The Food

2 of the Bao flavours attracted me were Salted Egg Shrimps and Chilli Crab. The plating were photogenic and definitely great for Instagram post.

Bao Makers - Salted Egg Shrimps Bao

Bao was soft and filling was sufficient. Though I won’t mind having more fillings.

Bao Makers - Chilli Crab Bao

The Chilli Crab was a little too spicy for me. The Baos were served with a side salad too.

Bao Makers - Toro Toro Pudding

There were 3 puddings, Toro Toro (Vanilla), Cappuccino and Latte.

Bao Makers - Cappuccino

Coffee was of quite a good balance, medium acidity, full body.

NAHMJ Verdict

A cafe with nice ambience and good food. What’s best is there is complimentary wifi.
