Thai Boat Noodle has been invading Singapore and looks like its popularity is on the rise. Loylum has set foot along Sam Leong Road, not far from Farrer Park MRT Station or rather close to the well known landmark in the area, Mustafa.
Its setup is very much a Kopitiam style with no air-conditioning.
At Loylum, there are mainly Thai Boat Noodles in 4 flavours; Pork (Highly recommended by the service crew), Beef, Chicken and Mushroom in both soup or dry. There are 4 choices of Noodles available, Egg Noodle, Thin and Thick Kway Teow and Mee Hoon. The noodles comes in 2 sizes, Small ($2) and Standard ($5). The small version has only literally one mouth worth of noodle.
If you like more ingredients to go with your noodles, side dishes are on the menu too. Such as Thai Cracker, Thai Egg, Thai Kang Kong, all at $1 each. Others include, Deep Fried Pork Lard ($2), Thai Grilled Chicken Ball, Beef Ball and Pork Ball ($1.50 per stick) and lastly Thai Mango Salad ($4).
The Thai Boat Noodles has the typical Thai flavours with spicy, sweet, sourish and sweetish. Pretty strong in flavours.
As all Thai Restaurants, you could fine the typical condiments.
The evergreen favourite, Thai Milk Tea is also found on Loylum menu. For other drinks, that includes, Thai Coffee
Desserts were offered too with selection of Thai Mango Pudding, Thai Mango Shake, Thai Mango Sago all at $4. XO Durian Chendol ($6) and Mango and Coconut Ice Cream ($1.50 per scoop).
NAHMJ Verdict
The food prices at Loylum are pretty affordable and reasonably delish too. Though Pork was the highly flavoured by Loylum, NAHMJ prefers its Beef Thai Boat Noodle.
