For us who do not know Spanish, may not know that Ola Cocina Del Mar is a Spanish Restaurant by its name. At least, I didn’t. This restaurant is located at the ground floor of Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 3. Ola is helmed by Chef Daniel Chavez, a talented Peruvian Chef.
Bread at Ola has a crusty outer and soft inner.
Complimentary from the chef was the Fried Baby Potato on Mashed Potato
Tapas
At Spanish Restaurant, Tapas is a must to have. We tried 3 of the Tapas at Ola.
Gazpacho
First was the Cold tomato and cucumber soup with raspberry vinegar. It was zesty and refreshing as it was a cold soup.
Among the 3 diners, 2 weren’t quite used to drinking soup cold.
PULPO
Grilled Spanish octopus with lentils and romesco vinaigrette.
This is the most tender Octopus that I have tried to date.
Daily Special Tapas
Raw Seabass with special sauce.
Sea Bass was used in this dish. We felt we were eating the Cantonese Yu Sheng with lots of lime juice drenched Sea Bass raw fish.
Paella
Ola offers 3 paella dishes, 2 pasta and 1 rice. We tried only 1, the pasta paella.
Fideua Negra Con Calamares
Squid ink black noodle paella with calamari, smoked paprika and alioli sauce.
Tasty is the word we would use to describe. None of us tasted any fishiness, not even the most sensitive one.
Mains
6 mains were on the menu with selection of fish, rib eye, pasta, lobster, lamb and suckling pig. We could only stomach one Mains and our choice was …
Cochinillo “Ola”
Roasted suckling pig with orange caramel and sweet and sour sauce.
An option of Leg Confit and Roasted Loin was available, we chose the latter. Ultra crispy skin that was a little hard. The orange caramel sauce was awesome. It was great for the roasted suckling pig.
Desserts
Desserts and Cheese was the last section of the menu. Ola did not have much desserts. 2 Cheese and 4 desserts. On it, we did spot some unique desserts worth the calories.
“OLA” APPLE SALAD
Caramel cream, lime jelly and roasted apple ice cream.
This was the least exciting dessert. Our impression after all an ice cream dish.
CHURROS
Spanish churros with warm chocolate sauce and vanilla pastry cream.
Churros was highly recommended by Ola. If you like churros with more spice and a denser texture. This is for you. All 3 diners prefer this to the first desserts above.
ARROZ CON LECHE
Coconut rice pudding with grapes and raisins.
The most unique among the 3 we tried. We thought this is worth trying since we have not seen it in other Spanish Restaurant so far.
Kitchen Tour
We have the honour to tour the kitchen. Thanks to Santiago Doria, the Assistant Manager of Ola.
We posed for a photo with one of the chef at the kitchen too.
Verdict
Food and service was amazing. We enjoyed our night at Ola Cocina Del Mar.
