PerBacco Singapore serving Italian at the fringe of the CBD, Craig Road, has a rather original interior design theme. It kind of divided the space into the bar at the front and restaurant at the back, with shelves and wine storage fridge as separator.
It uses lots of photo as ornament for a red brick wall. This helps to create a homely feel. We like the vibes of the restaurant.
PerBacco is a typical Italian Restaurant. On the menu you will spot the typical Antipasti, Pasta & Risotto, Secondi and Dolci section. On a close examination of the menu, you will see dishes that you might only find in PerBacco and none other restaurant. And this set as excited.
Bread
Bread was served once we completed our order. Instead of the usual Virgin Olive Oil and Vinegar dip for the bread. It has Tomato and Olive spread.
The bread is considerably a little too chewy for me.
Antipasti
We ordered a Antipasit, Juniper House Cured Wagyu Beef Carpaccio with Mustard Dressing, Yolk Croquettes and Toasted Hazelnut ($20), for sharing.
We couldn’t taste the Beef Carpaccio as it was overwhelmed by the Mustard Dressing. A reduction in the amount of dressing is very much preferred.
Pasta
Only a main, Clay Pot Cooked Sardinian “Fregola” with Home Made Fresh Basil Pesto, Boston Lobster Meat and Fresh Dates Tomatoes ($54), was ordered since it was might for 2.
Fregola are pasta which were shaped into a mini ball, cooked in a Risotto styled instead of the usual Pasta way.
The texture was chewy. We felt it tasted like savoury Bubble Tea Pearl. We mean it in a good way. It was flavourful, full of the essence from all the ingredients added. We enjoyed this dish to the max.
Dolci
Lastly, we ended our meal with Piedmont Chestnut Creme Brule with Chocolate Truffle Praline ($12).
The creme brulee was filled with Chestnut cum Chocolate Truffle flavours. We felt the texture of the creme brulee too fluid. Among the 2 diners, one felt it was too sweet while the other, whom is me, felt ok. In short, only one thumb up for the Creme Brulee.
NAHMJ Verdict
We like the ambience, the service and the Fregola from PerBacco Singapore. It does make us felt going back to try more of their dishes and of course for the Fregola again.
The Clay Pot Cooked Sardinian “Fregola” with Home Made Fresh Basil Pesto, Boston Lobster Meat and Fresh Dates Tomatoes is a must have when at PerBacco. Don’t miss out on it.
