East Manhattan Cafe – Lorong Kilat

East Manhattan Cafe at Lorong Kilat is their second outlet. The first is at Katong, in the east.

Besides being a cafe, offering dine-in option. It is also a bakery offering artisan breads. The service crew recommended me their Cheese and Cranberry Bread. This is selling like hotcakes. At the end of everyday, all will be gone from the shelf. I shall get hold of it the next time.

East Manhattan Cafe - Breads

East Manhattan offers quite some Mains with good selections of Gluten-free options. This is indeed good news for cafehoppers who are gluten intolerance.

East Manhattan Cafe - Mains Menu

I opted for the Chicken Avocado Sandwich. I was glad that they uses Thigh meat and not Breast. The sandwich was a little too bland for me. A pity that the avocado wasn’t completely ripe. As a result the avocado fragrance was not released.

Besides the sandwich, there was a sunny-side up, my favourite kind of eggs. There were fries too. The shoe-string fries were very crispy with potato aroma.

East Manhattan Cafe - Cappuccino

The coffee at East Manhattan was medium to light body with medium acidity.  It has a nutty hint and light aroma. It could be better.

On the day I was at the cafe, there was only Cheesecakes available. There was about 5 types; Blueberries, Yuzu, Salted Caramel, Rainbow and Apple and Cinnamon. Both the Yuzu and Salted Caramel were very inviting.

East Manhattan Cafe - Yuzu Cheesecake

Somehow, I chose the Yuzu. The Cheesecake was not too sweet. It was at a good level of sweetness with nice Yuzu fragrance. And Yuzu bites was in the cake too. The texture was not as smooth as I wanted it to be.

I got home a Wholemeal Bread home too. The bread was fluffy and soft. In short, it was nice.

In a nutshell, East Manhattan offers healthy options meal with gluten free selection. I hope they could offer a little more than cheesecake daily.
