Le Halo, with a vintage plus a little whimsical theme, is the latest addition to this residential area, Bukit Ho Swee and it is on Sin Lee Foods‘ left.
I like the colours palette used for the furniture. Beside creating the whimsical feel, it also brighten up the ambience, giving me a very joyful feeling when I stepped foot into the cafe.
Immediately after I settled down, the service crew, whom is also the owner came forward to serve me a cup of water.
It has a pretty simple menu. A page devoted to All Breakfast items, another page for Pasta, Soup and Salad while the last page is for beverages. While I was browsing, once again, she came forward to introduce and at the same time recommend me the signature dishes. I was pretty impressed with such a service level.
The signature dishes were Piggy Stew and Meatball Pasta and Mushroom Carbonara. But I have neither, I decided to go with Otak Egg instead. This round, I decided to have tea instead of coffee as they were serving Nepresso coffee, something that I don’t prefer.
The Otak wasn’t very spicy, a little crispy on the outer edge. Personally, I find the ratio of Otak and toast were not proportionate. On a hindsight, I think it lacked of certain spice in the Otak too. I certainly like the runny egg yolk and the bed of vinaigrette Rocket Salad.
Once again, the highlight of my lunch was the dessert. I have the Soursop Sorbet, to cleanse the palate after the spicy food before I have my finale. On the sorbet, there were some finely grated lime peel that gave off a nice citrus peel fragrance. It was a perfect combination with the sweet-sourish Soursop Sorbet.
Finally, I have my creamy Durian ice cream which was filled with Durian goodness. The texture was certainly very smooth and creamy. It was certainly one of the best Durian ice cream.
As for the tea, I tried the Osmanthus Peach Oolong from Gryphon Tea Company.
I rarely find cafe owner so willing to even accepting negative feedback. I like her warm, friendly, sincere attitude. With such an impressive service, I am sure I will return, and it is going to be very soon. Moreover, Le Halo Cafe aims to change their menu every 6 months; I certainly like the idea. This is surely another added reason for visiting them often.
