Ah Bong's Italian - Pasta

Ah Bong’s Italian At Tiong Bahru

Tiong Bahru is getting all the variety it requires. The addition is Ah Bong’s Italian, operated at a corner of a very old cornered coffee shop bringing Italian pasta to the vicinity. Located on the right (at the next block) of Kisses Bakery (for those who know this bakery).  If I remember correctly, it was occupied by a Vegetarian Mee Hoon stall previously

Ah Bong's Italian - Store, during lunch hour

Ah Bong Italian is the second Italian stall, after Savis Food, operating out of non-aircon  enivornment that I tried within the same month, October.

Ah Bong's Italian - Menu Board

Ah Bong’s Italian has a limited menu but the dishes prepared in the stall is very unique. The menu is change at some interval, check Ah Bong’s Facebook page for the update. There were four pasta choices for selection and one dessert. I won’t missed out the dessert that’s for sure. As for the pasta, the chef mentioned that for something special, I should go for Ah Bong’s Birthday Pasta so I trusted his view and I went for it and I did not regret. It was a great recommendation.

Ah Bong's Italian - Ah Bong's Birthday Pasta

Spaghetti was used for the Ah Bong’s Birthday Pasta, tossed in broccoli cream and bite-sized bacon added. The entire dish was so good. It was creamy, flavourful, rich and of course very tasty as the bacon added the saltiness to enhance the taste. The portion is considerable small for most but at Ah Bong it is quality over quantity that matters. It was great that they threw in a few broccoli into the dish adding a different texture to the creation.

Ah Bong's Italian - Earl Grey Creme Brulee

What about its dessert? Without doubt, it was excellent. The Earl Grey Creme Brulee is creamy and smooth and it has a good amount of Earl Grey flavour, lightly scented. The entire dessert has an excellent balance. Nothing overshadow the other element.

The price is very affordable and reasonable. The only shortcoming about Ah Bong’s Italian is the short opening hours. It is a shame that it doesn’t serve dinner and on Sundays.

Back to my lunch, it was absolutely enjoyable. A great main followed by a lovely dessert. What a great way to end the work week. But the remaining puzzle awaiting to be solved is why is the stall named as Ah Bong’s.
