The name, Three Years In A Balloon sounded with lota fantasy, magical and mystics. It sounded more like a novel, such as Wizard of Oz than a cafe. I was attracted by the name to find out more. It is very easy to find spot the cafe as it is right behind a bus stop.
The people behind Three Years In a Balloon was from Wimbly Lu. This cafe specialises in beautifully customised decorative cakes. Like Little Wimbly Lu, it does not have mains but only desserts; cakes, ice cream and waffles. For the menu, click here.
The cafe devoted at least two third of the space to the kitchen for bakes and the remaining for dine in. The dinning tables were lined by the side, in a straight line. The chairs were very much mixed and match.
Since it was after lunch that I arrived at the cafe, I have dessert and a drink.
For cake, I have the Lemon Curd Gateau which has an oil based cake, laced with butter cream and topped with a layer of lemon curd. I like the lemon curd but not the cake and the butter cream. The cake was a little rough, crumbly and a little hard and a little too sweet while the butter cream was also too sweet for me. The lemon curd was perfect though. Zesty with a balanced sweet and sour flavours.
For a change, I have an Iced Matcha Latte instead of my usual cappuccino. The Iced Matcha Latte tasted like it has half syrup and half milk with dashes of Matcha flavour cum powder to give the greenish colouring. I didn’t enjoy the Matcha Latte. In fact, I was extremely disappointed. I need a better Iced Matcha Latte to satisfied my craving.
If I return, I will go for only the waffles and nothing else. You can’t go wrong if waffle is ordered as their specialised or rather signature item is the waffle.
