Jiyūgaoka (自由が丘) is a neighbourhood in Tokyo. I find this neighborhood very different from the rest of Tokyo, very cool. There are many unique boutique shops, cafe and bakery.
The shopping range is from budget to high-end. I always recommend friends to cover this neighbourhood. It is worthwhile to plan for half a day in your itinerary.
You won’t need a map to visit this area. Strolling aimlessly is a good way to explore Jiyugaoka.
Jiyugaoka is about 10 – 15 min away from Shibuya station taking the Tokyu Toyoko line. It is about 6 stations away.
You can never miss Marie Clarie Street. This street is around the train station. There is a Green Street that you probably will pass by as well.

There are many boutique shop, you may find one like below. The shop is so attractive with the colourful products displaying at the door.
There are many railway tracks around. You would probably cross one.
You can visit the Japanese Temple.
La Vita is an outdoor shopping area with Venice as the theme. It is a photographic mall. The address is 2-8-3 Jiyugaoka, Meguro-ku, Tokyo. The opening hours for La Vita is 11 am to 8 pm.
If you love pastry and cakes, you would not want to miss the Sweet Forest. It is a sweets theme park. It has many Patisseries all consolidated within in. It opens from 10 am to 8 pm daily, closed on New Year Day. The address is 2-25-7 Midorigaoka, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, 152-0034
A famous product is the swiss rolls at Jiyugaoka Rollya. It is a must try. The address is 1-23-2 Jiyugaoka, Meguro-ku, Tokyo 〒 152-0035. The opening hours is 11 am to 7 pm. The swiss roll shop is closed on Wednesday and third Tuesday.

How to get there?
By Train:
- Tokyu Toyoko line from Shibuya
- Tokyu Oimachi line from Futagotamagawa
- Express train Minato Mirai in Yokohama on the Tokyu Toyoko line express service
When to go?
Anytime, but you may want to avoid winter if you are intolerable to cold as you will be outdoor most of the time.
The best time may be in spring and autumn.
