Finally, I have to make a trip to Mumbai for business. After so many years of Asia region and even Global roles, I was spared for India business trip though it has always been Shanghai trip whereby I last travelled Business Class on SQ826. As always, I travelled with an open mind. After much contemplation on which flight time to travel, I ultimately chose to fly on SQ424 Business Class.
Singapore Airlines offers 2 trips daily (Monday to Sunday); one at 7.40am (SQ422) and the other at 7pm (SQ424), with additional flight for Friday to Sunday at 5.55pm (SQ426).

Before Boarding
As much as I can, I tend to check-in via online prior the departure day. SQ424 Business Class passengers proceed to Row 6 for baggage-drop and otherwise if needed, check-in. After which, relax at the SilverKris Lounge.
Boarding for SQ424 on 24 September 2018, Monday was at Gate B4. First to board was for SQ424 Business Class and First Class/Suite passengers. And the rest of the passengers followed after.
After Boarding
Once boarded the plane, SQ424 Business Class passengers were shown to the seat. Likewise, I dived straight into 17A.
Settled comfortably in the leather seat of 17A. It was followed with a drink and a handful of Newspaper and Periodic were offered for selection. Among the choices handed over for drink were Champagne, Orange Juice and a Welcome Drink (which I chose). I didn’t enjoy the Welcome Drink as it was far too sweet.
Before taking off, the Flight Attendant confirmed my dinner order and the first refreshment I would like to have after take-off. I ordered a Roast Lamb Chop via Book The Cook and requested for a White Wine.
Seat 17A
Seat 17A is next to the gallery where the actions are during meal service. Though it is kind of secluded, on its own, but you might feel a little disturbed due to the proximity of the gallery.
On the seat were the Headphones and the standard Amenities that Singapore Airlines offered.
A pity all the charging port was at the panel which made it a slight hassle to use. And the UK electric plug was strangely small, I couldn’t get my plug into the socket.
On both sides of the seat, there were plugs and holders for the headphone. I wasn’t too sure if the headset or the plugs (both left and right) were faulty resulting in the uneven sound produced.
The consolation was the rest of the essentials such as the remote and the call buttons, light and inclination for the seats were next to the seat.
After Take-Off
About into an hour of take-off, the seat belt sign was off and immediately the indicated choice of refreshment was served.
Singapore Chicken and Lamb Satay was served. The standard varied and this round the marinate was not well absorbed by the meat. It is interesting to note that the presentation differ from flight to flight.
Dinner began at 9pm Singapore time. First was the Seared Scallop Mesclun with Tomato Pesto. A cold but fresh scallop though it did go well with the sauce, however, I would pretty other than tomato-based sauce.
A selection of bread from the bread basket. This round, I took the Indian Crisp Bread instead of the fame Garlic Bread.
Abroad SQ424 Business Class, Singapore Airlines offered a special Indian Menu exclusively created by Sanjeev Kapor, Indian Celebrity Master Chef, Mumbai. I was tempted by this special menu, but I have requested my dinner via Book The Cook, Roast Lamb Chop.
There are only 2 rack of Roast Lamb Chop with Potato Ratatouille, accompanied with Green Salad without dressing. Well-marinated Lamb with mint sauce hence was flavourful though a little salty, but I didn’t mind. Overall was enjoyable.
Followed by selection of Fruit From The Basket and Cheese.
For desserts, diners have a choice of Gulab Jamun Cheese Cake from the Indian menu and Movenpick Passionfruit Mango Sobert. I chose the latter, a very sourish fruity, I grimaced at first mouth, subsequently, I enjoyed.
Three Cheese option; Blue Cheese, Brie and Cheddar which I tried all.
Ending the meal with some fine Praline and Ethiopia Coffee.
After Meal
Now time for some sleep till 30 minutes before landing. With the help of the Air Stewardess, my Business Class comfort seat was turned into a flat bed. I got almost 2 hour of sleep. Thought the bed wasn’t 180 degree flat, a small inclination towards the leg was presence. If this could be improved, more comfortable will be achieved.

NAHMJ Verdict
SQ424 Business Class was yet another standard product offered by Singapore Airlines. Personally, I find the A380 aircraft are relatively aged in terms of design and feel as well as the condition.
