We visited Hibiki Japanese Restaurant for their yakitori and various ala carte items previously. And since we didn’t get enough as there are more items to try, we revisited Hibiki. After more than 6 months, we are back for the Hibiki Lunch Set.
On the menu, valuable set lunch menu, there are 7 mains for selection. In addition, there is a curry set lunch with choice of udon or rice.
Each set consist of salad, side dish, clear soup, pickles, fruits and Houji Cha (hot/cold).
Hibiki Lunch Set
We noticed that the Yakitori Rice Don ($18) which we tried previously and we loved is on Hibiki lunch set menu.
We ordered a total of 4 items since there were 4 diners. First was the Hibiki’s Wagyu Don ($19), a highly recommended Don by Hibiki. Cube Wagyu beef lined the circumference of the bowl and crowned with an onsen egg. I love the sauce on the beef cube though the meat was a little chewy.
Hibiki Tokujyo Don ($20) which is another highlight on Hibiki Lunch Set Menu is tasty too. Abundance leek and onsen egg elevate the flavourful pork meat.
Among the variety of Don on Hibiki Lunch Menu is a Hibiki Yakitori Paitan Ramen ($15). We find the broth too salty.
Lastly option on Hibiki Lunch Set was the Curry selection with spicy and non-spicy choices. 2 choices, Curry Udon ($13), Curry Soba ($13) and Curry Rice ($10). 3 add-on at $4.90 each for Chicken Cutlet, Pork Cutlet and Breaded Prawn.
We opted for Spicy Curry Udon with Breaded Prawn as add-on. None of us enjoyed the udon. Probably due to the soft texture of the noodle. I will have it with rice the next time.
Each Hibiki Lunch Set is served with salad and sides was Edamame.
Choice of Houjicha with option of cold or hot. Lastly a soup is served together with Mains.
Ala Carte
Miso Potato was a side which we tried for the first time. We think it makes a great beer grub. This lightly sweetish, savoury spicy sauce cause the fried potato cube highly addictive.
A new dessert the Daifuku Cream Tea ($6.80) in 2 flavours, Houjicha and Matcha are available.
With the highly saccharine Daifuku, it tone down the bitterness of the Houjicha. The Matcha one was in milk. I couldn’t tolerate the intense milkiness.
NAHMJ Verdict
Hibiki Lunch Set are value for money which we will return for our favourite choice, the Hibiki’s Yakitori Don.
